Syracuse is picking up the pace in more than lacrosse and basketball.

Syracuse field hockey is unbeaten and ranked No. 1 this year (RPI), won the NCAA title last fall, and was runner-up the year before. (Princeton is the only Ivy in the top 20, currently at 13.) http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/fieldhockey/d1/nfhca

Carrier Dome is supposed to get a permanent (not inflated) roof in the near future. Hockey is the preseason favorite in the CHA.

Men's XC is #1 in the nation, while the women are #15.

Usually I don't like to thread police but a thread about Syracuse sports goes beyond me not wanting it "other sports". I don't want it in JSID. I barely accept Syracuse sports in Syracuse.

Yes, it could have gone in JSID even if you didn't want it anywhere, didn't want to hear New York's sports college is picking up steam. For that matter, Colgate and Albany are top 10, top 20 in a couple of the same sports where Syracuse is doing well. Academically, they're decent schools and could lure away Cornell-intending recruits.

Maybe watching the debate will be pleasantly diversionary.
