It's The System (TM)

Quote from: sah67Moulson responded to his demotion to the third line by scoring a PPG last night (his second of the season), but the Islanders fell to the Sabres in the shootout.

Colin Greening had a nice game with two assists (including one on the OT winner), and the first was a beauty with Greening stealing the puck from the Phoenix goalie behind the net, and then dishing it into the slot for Spezza to score: http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=2013020093-477-h
Wonder if this was the Islanders showcasing him to demonstrate that he could perform without being on the same line as Tavares.

Interesting quirk about this trade: both players finished their freshman year on the ice at the 2003 Frozen Four...in Buffalo.

... but only one of them got to take home the big prize :-/

The Cornell diploma Moulson got three years later?
03/23/02: Maine 4, Harvard 3
03/28/03: BU 6, Harvard 4
03/26/04: Maine 5, Harvard 4
03/26/05: UNH 3, Harvard 2
03/25/06: Maine 6, Harvard 1

I wish the Islanders were managed with that degree of forethought.

It's fun seeing what Moulson can do now that he isn't saddled with nobodies like Tavares on his line and has some real NHL talent around him.  :-D

Update to the trade, Sabres retain some of Vanek's salary and if the 2014 first round pick is in the top ten the Islanders can defer to 2015.
