QuoteWhy they'll get to the Frozen Four: Defense wins championships, and Cornell's is as good as any other in the Midwest Regional.

Why they won't get to the Frozen Four: The Big Red are young, inexperienced and playing without ECAC Hockey rookie of the year Brian Ferlin (injury).

"Cornell isn't an organization.  It's a loose affiliation of independent fiefdoms united by a common hockey team."

Might also want to add "are in the same bracket as Michigan, recently lost to Harvard and RPI" to the Why They Won't section.

I'm pretty sure those scores don't carry over.

Unfortunately, the inconsistent play may.

From today's Detroit Free Press:

Berenson said Cornell reminds him of a CCHA team. The Big Red is led by 5-foot-9, 180-pound sophomore goaltender Andy Iles (2.13 GAA, .918 save percentage). "If they were in our league, they'd be right there with the top teams in our league," Berenson said. ... Berenson didn't answer a question about what he was doing with his top-two lines, but some tinkering apparently was going on.

Quote from: College Hockey News story on Cornell's regional bracketAnd the familiarity [Cornell's with CCHA- and Michigan-style play] doesn't end with the style. Freshman forward John McCarron grew up in nearby Macomb, Mich., though he was more of a Michigan State fan. And goaltender Andy Iles played for the U.S. Development Team in Ann Arbor. He went to high school for one year about a minute walk from Michigan's home at Yost Ice Arena.

Quote from: Fan who needed to set the record straight[Joe Zurawski·Milan, Michigan] It is more like a ten to fifteen (not one as the story claims) minute walk from Yost Arena to Pioneer High School where Andy Iles went for the year he was with the NTDP.
