Y'all know the rules.  Well, OK, maybe y'all don't know the rules, so they are listed below.  Please put forth your nominations and include any argument you want people to consider prior to their vote.  The nominations phase will conclude at midnight Saturday 26 March.  There will then be a voting phase that will conclude at midnight Saturday 2 April.  As the Editorial Board attended only 2 games this year, Awards will be decided by Popular Vote with an Executive Veto exercised in cases of overt silliness.

See Awards History here.  After long, honorable service the Pierre and the Melrose have been retired.

Automatic Awards

Duane Moeser-Matt Moulson Award, Leading Point Scorer

    Greg Miller (4-25-29)

Chris Norton-Mark McRae Award, Leading Scorer, Defenseman

    Nick D'Agostino (7-10-17)

Discretionary Awards

Peter Natyshak-Sam Paolini Award, Career Improvement. This award is open to seniors or, in the rare case, juniors. The award measures how well the player has improved since starting at Cornell.

Randy MacFarlane-Riley Nash Award, Transcendent Beauty and Skating Prowess. The title says it all.

Dave Shippel-Greg Hornby Award, Scrappiness and Effort. This award generally goes to a player who plays "bigger than his size" or "better than his talent."

Terry Gage Award, Determination in a Supporting Role. This award generally goes to an athlete whose contributions do not show up in the box score.

Mike Schafer-Stephen Baby Award, Leadership and Passion. This award needs no explanation.

Brian Hayward-David LeNeveu Award, Leading Goaltender. Based solely on this year's performance, choose our starter in the NCAA Final.

John Carter-Dominic Moore Award, Most Respected Opponent. This award goes to the guy we would take in a heartbeat for one of our own. It is based on his performance against us in games this year.

Doug Dadswell-Ryan Vesce Award, Most Valuable Freshman. Define it however you want. Open only to freshman, not transfers.

Joe Nieuwendyk-Doug Murray Award, Most Valuable Player. Define it however you want, as long as you consider this year's performance alone.

Brian Hayward-David LeNeveu Award, Leading Goaltender. Tie: Mike Garmin - Andy Iles , both we're good all year and their results we're almost impossible to tell apart.  Unfair to punish Iles just for that final game when I think the result would have been the same if Garmin had started

John Carter-Dominic Moore Award, Most Respected Opponent. Andrew Miller - Yale

Yeah, I think I did a Quote instead of an Edit.

Peter Natyshak-Sam Paolini Award, Career Improvement. Tyler Roeszler

Dave Shippel-Greg Hornby Award, Scrappiness and Effort. John Esposito

Terry Gage Award, Determination in a Supporting Role.  Mike Devin, the unsung Devin who helped setup many of the plays and shots, often made by his brother, that allowed Cornell to gain momentum after the beginning of the New Year.

Mike Schafer-Stephen Baby Award, Leadership and Passion.  Patrick Kennedy

Brian Hayward-David LeNeveu Award, Leading Goaltender.  Andy Iles, he played superbly when Cornell was stuck in the basement of the ECAC and managed to fill in when Garman became ill, even though the pressure of the ECAC Championship game and the relentlessness of the Yale onslaught was too much for him as a freshman, his superb play against Dartmouth, both times, and RPI, in Troy, was what allowed Cornell to have a legitimate chance at an ECAC Championship title and an NCAA berth this season.

Doug Dadswell-Ryan Vesce Award, Most Valuable Freshman.  Kirill Gotovets, his skills increased dramatically during the season and he was one of the few defensemen who could consistently get the puck out of the Cornell zone and move it down ice efficiently, he has shown the ability to be a team leader with how he supports his fellow teammates (as witnessed when the team entered the ice before the ECAC Championship game against Yale).

Joe Nieuwendyk-Doug Murray Award, Most Valuable Player.  Joe Devin, he filled the leadership void during the latter part of the season and found the back of the net when it was needed most.
