WHCA consolation game is underway (live on Fox College Sports Central): Wisconsin 6 v. Denver 3, Final.

Edit: FWIW, with respect to Hobey voting, Murray is now in goal for the Pioneers; Cheverie got chased after giving up 3 goals (thanks mikek).

Rita

In the ECAC third place game, SLU 0 v. Brown 1, 2nd period.

Miami and Ferris are scoreless about 3 minutes into the second.  Live blog: http://www.muredhawks.com/postseason/IHblog032010.html

EDIT: make that 1-0 Miami right as I posted.

Cheverie started the game and gave up 3 goals in the first and was pulled.

Thanks. I tuned in late when it was already 3-0 Wisconsin and didn't see the sieve being yanked.

Brown 2, SLU 0 with 4 mins remaining in the game.

Rita

Now a final. Wisconsin 6 beats Denver 3.

2-1 Miami with 4:04 to go.  If they hold on, does that keep us above Ferris even with a loss?

Miami just went ahead of Ferris 2-1 with about 4:00 left in the third.

edit: and that's how it ends.

Brown adds an ENG to make it 3-0 Final.  USCHO bloggers say the top seeds are now locked: Miami, Denver, Wisconsin.

QuoteBrown's Aaron Volpatti set the school record for single-season penalty minutes in the ECACH consolation game Saturday. Volpatti said he mentioned that he was near the record to referee Chip McDonald before the game, and when he took a slashing call late in the third period he asked McDonald if it was worth a 10-minute penalty. McDonald asked if Volpatti wanted a 10-minute penalty, and Volpatti said yes in language that he couldn't repeat. McDonald then served up the 10-minute penalty.

This guy will definitely get my vote for the Nickerson/Syphilis award for TBRW.  One would think that the way he played in Lynah in February, he wouldn't need to beg for a 10 min penalty.
