NYDailyNews gives some coverage to the family Ugarte's recent venture.

So, is Jeff Wilkins a friend of yours?  Either way, it's a nice bit of free advertising.

You've got to love headline writers.  "An instant hot commodity" when "sales are slow". Hopefully the news speeds up sales.

It is a nice bit of free advertising. Kind of interesting to see it happen from the inside. We posted it on our neighborhood blog, told a larger Brooklyn blog, who posted about it. The Daily News saw it there and wrote about it. Gothamist saw it there, as did a couple of other sites and the local news. There was a short feature on Brooklyn 12, a channel only available on local Cablevision. There was also supposed to be a feature on WPIX (the local WB affiliate) but they never showed up (particularly annoying because I left work early for the interview.)

Among the comments:

"... a gaptoothed, couch potato Joey Ramone"

"Look at this fagala... send his candy a-s-s to the Golan Heights and put an M16 in his hand. Sick of these girly NY Jews who refuse/scared to serve in the Israeli army. Defend Your Homeland Coward!"

"Shouldn't the guy's shirt read "Brooklyn Jew (with a thing for Shiksas).""

"Great, a racial supremest t-shirt. Well, I guess it would be okay to support one's own folk, but I wonder if people would have the same reaction to a t-shirt reading, "Upper East Anglo-Saxons" or "Westchester Aryans"."

And I loved this exchange (on Gothamist):

"I can't wait to get my Brooklyn Non-Jew shirt. That's one I'd buy and wear with pride. I'm sure everyone would respect my choice to wear it, too."
    - "Right because that's the exact same thing."
            - "Nope, it's actually the opposite. But thanks for trying!"
                   - "So you were using what sounded like sarcasm but you were being serious. Thanks for not making sense!"

I wouldn't mind actual wealth.

I wouldn't mind actual wealth.

Or, say, control of the means of production.

Me?  I'm waiting for the motion picture he's producing.
