There were 3 or four teams last year that were TUC with less than a 0.500 record, all of whom were in the WCHA, CCHA (and HEA?).  Because the criterion is RPI, not W/L, the mediocre teams that play a lot of games against the top teams (i.e. the conferences with good teams, but few teams) tend to get a bit of TUC favoritism by the current method.

Post #1 was the USAToday poll.  jmh30's post was the USCHO poll.

[Q]also - does anyone know when they start the RPI and PWR again?[/Q]
Doesn't mean much, but here it is: http://siouxsports.com/hockey/rankings/pwr.php

Hmmmm, while nice of them to attempt it, they need to fix one thing in their script (not sure how much of a difference it'll make): a record of 0-0-0 counts as 0.0000. For instance, in the TUC category. So our TUC record, in the comparison with MSU (since they're the only TUC we faced) is 0.0000 and they win the point. Now, they win the comparision 2-1 without it anyway, but it could be screwing stuff up in other places.

Having seen last Friday's Princeton shutout of Dartmouth (3-0) and Sklapsky's 41 saves, I'd say Princeton will make a competitive game with pretty much anyone this year (except Cornell, of course).  But for coming up a goal short against Harvard last Saturday (with a different netminder -- Leroux), they'd be 3-1.  Overall, though, they look much more competitive.  Quite a positive change from recent years.  Perhaps it's their new hockey jerseys juicing them up -- with their big PU shield emblazened front and center on their chests.

I understand the Harvard game was SRO -- very unusual for their quiet barn.  Can't wait for the annual PU vs. CU "home-game-away-from-home" this January.  Already have my block of seats paying the extra $3 per seat "Cornell Premium" and will duly outfit my block with red clothing for Christmas.

Bryan Vernon Sterling Sklapsky actually plays this year?

Fantastic.  I can't wait to play Princeton now.
