Well, the LiveStats kinda looks stuck, but I'm guessing that its 5-3 after the 1st half. Binghamton scored to bring it within 1, 4-3, and Cornell seemed to strike back immediately.

Watched the FSNY broadcast of tonight's 12-8 Hofstra win over Cornell's next opponent, UNC. Color commentary by Bob Rule, who backstopped the 1971 Cornell NCAA champs.

As some of you may know from reports, the best story to emerge from this game happened late in the fourth quarter, when senior goalie Kyle Miller was inserted. It was the symbolic conclusion of his long battle with a rare disease. It was symbolic of other things too, of course, and for that we're grateful.

The apparent decline of North Carolina is NOT good for Cornell. Given lax's stupid way of determining at-large NCAA bids, it's best for the teams that we've already beaten and the teams we might beat to end the season as high as possible in the RPI. Go Irish.

Al, did UNC look as bad as folks are suggesting? What's your scouting report?

Parity is one the rise in D-I lacrosse, and it's way cool. Lehigh beating Pennsylvania? Bucknell beating Navy? Love it.

Sorry, Hillel, to have let this slip my mind for so long. Just thought of it as I was checking on the time for today's UNC game (7pm).

I can't say I watched the game intently, but my sense was that Hofstra was pretty much in control of the game except for a brief stretch in the third period when UNC closed the score from 8-4 to 8-7, and looked like they might finally play up to their potential. But Hofstra quickly took momentum back and won going away. UNC's big gun, Prossner, looked like he had very good skills, but the Hofstra guy marking him really kept him pressured and never let him take charge of the game. UNC just didn't seem to play with intensity, and showed no team creativity on offense.

If Prossner had the intensity of a McEneaney, he'd be really something. But he just didn't seem to want to step up and do it. Bottom line: UNC has some talent, but they haven't played up to it this year. But Cornell had better come prepared to play, as Hofstra did last week, in order to win tonight.

Every Cornell team that goes into the NCAAs should hope for such a strong goaltending combo.
