CU at Harvard Reception

Tom Pasniewski has just emailed me that the CC of Boston will be having a reception prior to the game at 5:00 - 7:30, with the band tentatively scheduled at 6:15. It will be held at Dillon Lounge at The Dillon Field House, right next to Bright Hockey Center, (I still want to say Watson Rink, boy that dates me).

The cost is $15 (non-club member), although they list tickets, they are not available. You can get more info and order for the reception at www.cornellclub.org . Click on Events- Programs, then next month (I guess their computer doesn't know it's Jan. yet ;-)  ), then you'll see the reception.

Last year this was alot of fun. When we got there early last year we could drive in and park in the athletic complex. No one was checking cars then, however it was Sat. last year, so that might make a difference.

What happened to boycotting Harvard's facilities due to "Ticketgate"?

There's just no comparable facilities nearby.  We've long since outgrown John Harvard's although if this package thing and restrictions continue, our reception numbers may dwindle enough to go back there.  Our numbers won't be nearly as big as last year at the function.  In fact, there may not be that many people at all but the food will be great and the booze will be free this year.

With the late start time, there will be no post-game reception back at the Dillon Field House but you can bet a good number of us will be at John Harvard's afterwards.

And if you are coming into the area for both games, the Cornell Club is taking part in the national Cornell Cares Day from 12 Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Greater Boston Food Bank.  It's tons of fun as we literally inspect and sort tons of food for shipment to various charities and shelters.  The event is a joint event between alumni and students home on break or, in the case this year, in town for hockey.  Free pizza for lunch, free snacks throughout and it ends in plenty of time to go down to Brown and there will be a contingent going from the Food Bank to Brown so you won't get lost.  Just e-mail me for more info and directions.

Not sure what this means.  The food and beer are a thousand times better at John Harvard's, and the walk-in by local alums is strong, because of the history of going there.  The only problem is time -- the solution is going a little earlier.

I think all that Tom means is that with the recent success of the team the number of alumni who get together before the game is more than JH's can handle.
