Quote from: ithacat on July 24, 2026, 07:55:31 AMOne to keep an eye on might be Kellen Paetsch out of Spencerport. He made the U17 NTDP team and has spent the past 2 years with BK Selects. He is a 6'3" defenseman. His dad is an assistant coach with the Amerks and had a long career playing in the AHL and NHL, plus was a 2-time member of Canada's World Junior team. We're overdue for an NTDPer.
any specific reason to believe he's a possibility or is he just a guy who will be on every team's wishlist

Nothing specific; I like to hope we're due and have had decent luck with kids out of Rochester.

My dad says you don't hustle enough on defense.

"College Puck NXT" released a ranking of teams' incoming classes and Cornell did not crack the top 25. Quinnipiac was 18, Harvard and RPI were honorable mentions (21-25), and no one else in conference made the list. I suspect these rankings are total crap, but it's not surprising Cornell isn't on there as our recruiting has been mediocre lately.

I think our incoming non-transfer class this year is fine, but doesn't have the talent of some of the other schools. So I'm cool with the ranking.

If our recruiting has been mediocre, I'd hate to see what bad looks like. Tournament every year.  Many draft picks.  Ask North Dakota and BU and Harvard and Denver about our recruiting.  For that matter, Western Michigan must really suck at recruiting.  Just watch the games.

We had two amazing classes ('21 and '27) which have carried us to much of our success lately. Too soon to know what becomes of our current recruiting; many of those players haven't played a college game yet.

Quote from: stereax on July 31, 2026, 10:17:03 PMBREAKING: Judge Charlotte Sweeney of the U.S. District Court of Colorado has granted a class-wide preliminary injunction that requires the NCAA to declare eligible *all* HS class of 2022 athletes who exhausted four seasons of eligibility this spring.
It was already an incoming disaster for Ivy League lacrosse, women's hockey, wrestling, etc. but now it's here immediately. I was hoping we'd get one last year of Firth and Goldstein before every other team is stacked with fifth years but oh well.

What are you guys worrying about? Cornell is going to win the 2046 NCAA championship, just three years after Oklahoma State.
