Iwanonkiw to Cornell
The WPIAL usually gets a handful — at most — of boys basketball players who sign with Division I colleges every year. Add one more to the list for the Class of 2024.

North Allegheny's Ty Iwanonkiw recently made a verbal commitment to Cornell of the Ivy League. Iwanonkiw is a 6-foot-10 senior forward. Iwanonkiw obviously is tall, but he actually likes to play on the perimeter. He averaged 14 points and 8 rebounds this season.

North Allegheny coach Dave DeGregorio said Cornell had been showing some interested during the season. When Cornell recently offered Iwanonkiw a spot, he took it.
