i know that the article didn't cover it. i was wondering if subsequent articles had. i assume any university silence is because of potential litigation and silence from the coach is because there is silence from the university.

Now the Daily Sun has caught us up to what (allegedly) happened in 2007:

[Former player Daniel '08, who is Cuban-American] Crespo said [now departed Coach David '81] Eldredge's "exact words were, 'I don't care if they [the referees] say something about your mother fucking a spic.'"

The Sun adds, cautiously:

Crespo is the son of a Cuban man and an American woman and said he believed Eldredge's remark was directed at him.

Eldridge was also investigated for allegedly drinking a beer in 2007 while driving three students/players. Apparently not in a pickup truck, otherwise it would have been extenuating circumstances since everyone riding in a pickup has PBR handy at the least. Eldridge told The Sun that it was clear he was "Cleared, as in cleared, as in not guilty, as in cleared," otherwise he wouldn't have been polo coach for the next decade.
