Freschi from Lowry on a shorty in overtime.  :)

Finally. Finally! Something goes right!

Hopefully this is the end of one trend and the start of another, sort of like that team in the early 80's [I suck at remembering the details but I am good at the big picture].  I am referring to the team that was like 0-5-1 before Christmas and 20-1 after....Brock Tredway's era.

I'm not sure which is more unexpected. Getting a SHG in OT on a major, or the fact that our basketball team is going to win their opening game on the road. Good day for the Athletics Dept.

Looks like 78.

I thought overall that was a pretty complete game for CU. The first period particularly they had the forechecking working. It was the best they have looked all season.

I was bitching about Lowry earlier but tonight was the kind of game I expected him to develop. He was all over the ice making good offensive & defensive plays.

Only downside to the game was the stupid penalties. The offensive zone boarding and tripping calls are moronic.  I couldn't see Fiegl's but I'm guessing by the DQ it was bad. Also Hilbrich (IIRC) penalty right after the Clarkson goal was boneheaded too.

On to SLU. If they play like last night it should be a good one with a W.

it was hard to get a read on the DQ.. he definitely hit him, but in watching the replay 3-4 times it looked like it was slight contact , more of a trip than a check, the clarkson kid looked like he lost his balance a bit and hit the board that was a few ft away..  it was a check that if it happened in open ice probably doesnt result in a penalty.. but it was clearly a stupid play by cornell. no need for it and behind the play. it was the kind of play that looks as much like a dive as a penalty

I was surprised by this one as well: I can't recall ever seeing a game DQ being handed out for a boarding penalty, even when it's a major. I couldn't see the hit from where we were, but there didn't seem to be much of a reaction by the Clarkson players/coaching staff, so I was surprised that it was even called as a major, let alone as a game DQ.

Is anyone aware of anything in the rulebook that automatically converts a game misconduct to a game DQ if it happens in the waning seconds of a game? Something about that rings a bell for some reason.

The secret's out -- now we know Rand Pecknold's alias :-)

And what's the career record for points by a goalie?
