Ever since they brought in the new generation laser-guided Olympia ice resurfacer, they thought they could get away with having a thinner ice layer, which ideally improves its performance if proper refrigeration temperatures can be maintained. But the thinner ice means less margin for error: the paint layer is not as protected from scraping off and the decals are closer to the surface, raising the risk of breakages. But hey, we got to enjoy some redneck improvisation: who knew that fire extinguishers could be so useful? The mild embarrassment this caused our corporate administrators can only be a good thing.

Huge win! God, 3x3 OT is such a lousy format, even moreso for the women than the men. But what a gritty, important, confidence boosting win!

Lots of good chances, speed coming into the zone. Love to see it.

Adam with the beautiful one-timer. Just crisp execution, no fooling around with the puck.

The difference between these two teams right now seems to be "killer instinct" which we seem to be a little short on.

Not a stretch to say today's rubber match against 'Gate will be a real test of character for the whole team and coaching staff after yesterday's uncompetitive showing in Hamilton. Can we at least hold our own in 5x5 play? Let's go ladies.

0-3 Final from Hamilton. There's no sugarcoating this one. One of the most lackluster performances we've seen from this team in a long time. The relatively small roster size this season makes it tough to come from behind. That was a rude awakening to some considerable deficiencies in the program at the moment, and look to be a step back from their level from the past couple years.

Down 0-2 after the 2nd. Looking pretty beleaguered out there. It seems like this iteration of CUWiH struggles to forecheck against big physical opposition. Coming off a bye week, gotta wonder what practice has been like.

Colgate gets two quick goals right from the drop in the 2nd. Both capitalizing on defensemen seemingly losing focus. Can't say it's completely surprising. Now we get to see if we have comeback-ability.

0-0 after the first period. Fairly sloppy game so far from Cornell's side and a little chippy. Some signs of frustration at the lack of quality chances. Despite our 7-0 record and number 4 national ranking, i get the sense that this is a team still searching for connectedness on the ice.

Disappointing that we got edged in that one. Don't know if the ice was sticky but we had trouble getting shots off quickly enough. Coach Casey opted to not use the timeout late in the game when you can be darn sure that Schafer would've.

Trying to seize momentum into the latter half of the 3rd period with textbook Cornell Hockey. Encouraging but still pressing for the equalizer.

Some bitter ass staff members seem bent on taking Risleyites down several notches. There is an odd dialectic between social progress and mindless bureaucratic clampdown.

Huge dub for Casey and the boys going to Lynah East. Cournoyer looked a little frantic at times but he looks like our number one.
