Looks like the whcu stream on TuneIn uses 32 kbps = 4 kBps. Three hours of streaming that will come to roughly 42 MB of data usage.

They just need to watch Canadian Bacon... or did I just reference a movie they're too young to have watched?

I had a friend convince people he was a new father, complete with baby pictures, facebook posts and some friend congratulating him to help spread the joke. He spread this over a few months but had the birth occur on the 1st so it still counts.

This was the first time I missed a game at MSG. I think I'm officially banned from these games.

I'm not imagining that the home game against Harvard is going to be on NBCSports right? They mentioned it a few times last weekend while they had some other College Hockey on, and it's on chn's schedule but I don't see anything about it on here...

Quote from: Jim HylaI'd don't understand how the full sheild impairs peripheral vision, however.

I have never played ice hockey without a cage, and I am happy to have my teeth, jaw, nose, and facial bones intact. I think it doesn't take very long to get used to wearing a birdcage or full shield.

I am highly skeptical that moving from cages to 3/4 shields would reduce injuries.  I have not perceived any additional recklessness in hockey leagues that require full shields.  Thus, I have doubts that the premise for the change is valid.

The entire debate reminds me of the arguments hockey people made in opposition to the radical notion of goaltenders wearing masks.

I suspect that the only people who would benefit from a rule change from full shields to 3/4 shields are dentists, x-ray technicians, orthopedists, and plastic shield manufacturers.

I totally agree. I have played hockey with a cage for ~25 years. It has not in any way hampered my vision and I am also glad to have my face intact.

I've only played hockey for two years and I've only worn a cage other than the one time I went to a practice a friend of mine was holding for the team she was coaching. I played without a shield or visor and the difference was really noticeable. I wouldn't play an actual game without a full shield because I'm not a professional and any damage to my face is repaired with money out of my pocket, but I did feel a greater sense of awareness without anything in front of my eyes. That could have also been fear that some tiny 14 year old girl was going to wire a shot into my face.

Lowell scores to make it 3-2 on a very weird play where a Union player lost the puck going behind his net and it went right to a Lowell player who basically had a free shot since the goalie wasn't even looking in the right direction. If Lowell wins this game they can thank two really lucky goals.

Quote from: nshapiroI agree completely...but shootout is here to stay, and creating an extra point for a game that goes into overtime is bogus.
If they want to go as far as the 5-point system you suggest, they could at least go to 3 for winning a hockey game, 2 for winning a shootout, 1 for losing a shootout, and 0 for losing a hockey game.

I'm a fan of this as well. Losing in overtime should not be rewarded in any way.

Quote from: RatushnyFanCornell alumni unrelated thread drift:  Dan Boyle beat the snot out of Derick Brassard, wow.  Beat down.
Isn't beating the snot out of people Murray's job?

Relative to Boyle, yes but Murry has been moved to the second D pair with Brent Burns and wasn't on the ice for any of the late-game shenanigans (that I noticed at least). He also hasn't had to do much fighting in recent years:

Aaaaand they're still using the picture from when he was in the Kings organization.
If you were a photographer, would you take an assignment to shoot an Islanders game?

Probably not but they're just using the stock pictures from the NHL. All they need to do is update their database every once in a while http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8470852

Greening had two goals against the Sharks tonight in the Sens 4-1 win. He now has 11 goals on the season.
