I enjoy that you both mentioned Senior Night memories and it reminds me of a Senior Night a few years back when my parents attended and during the Alma Mater circle at the end, with tears streaming down my face, my mother turned to me and said, "I get it now".  Though non-Faithful sometimes have a hard time understanding our obsession, at least it's one of many common bonds that bring us together.

I can honestly say that many of my most precious friends are Faithful and like you guys thank Cornell hockey for blessing me with them.

Apparently Athletics is also concerned about the lack of interest.  They've extended the ability to pick up lottery numbers to Monday (for SportsPass holders)...despite the fact that it originally sounded like they were selecting the lottery numbers this weekend:

From an email sent this afternoon:
"Don't forget to pick-up your Cornell men's ice hockey line number!
As a valued Big Red Sports Pass holder, you have until Monday, September 28 at 5:00pm to get a line number for the student season hockey ticket lottery.
Come to the Athletic Ticket Office in Bartels Hall from 10am-5pm on Monday for your LAST CHANCE for a 2009-10 men's ice hockey line number."  

PS - For what it's worth, we got some Grad numbers in the high 240s at the end of the day yesterday (Thursday).  Looks like Grads are the most interested group!

Agreed.  Too bad they can't do something bizarre like let the seniors wear their "true" colors (but still sign/auction off their respective pink ones).

And I guess that would mean the seniors get to do their lap wearing them  ::yark::

Might be a stretch, but:  "Life ain't easy for a team named "Sioux"" a la Johnny Cash.

It's because it's what they're all used to calling him on the ice, in the locker room, etc.  Everyone's got their 1-2 syllable quick and easy to shout name (many, actually, ending in "ie" or "y").  He'd have to break the habit in order for them to not slip calling him "Dougie".  Though that does conjure up some pretty funny mental images of guys yelling "Douglas" across the ice for a pass...  :-)

Well, Jon and I were in, but now Jon's down with a nasty case of bronchitis and we'll have to miss the trip.  As luck would have it, we already had tickets, so check the ticket forum if you're interested in our two 3-day passes and haven't gotten yours yet.

As I was looking over the Hockey Newsletter we got in the mail yesterday, I noticed they said the Phonathon would take place yesterday and today.  So, if you didn't get a call last night, you can probably look for one today.
