Other Sports / Re: [Football] Williams out at Yale

Blame it on Witt.....if he wasn't a real Rhodes scholar candidate Williams would probably still be cruising along.....Williams' resume should have read "Almost Rhodes Scholar Candidate" and "Almost San Francisco 49er"

Williams did, however, invent the Internet, didn't he?

It was actually more than just the Rhodes issue....he also pumped up his time with the 49ers, stating he was on the practice squad....it was right in the Cornell program of two years ago when Yale came in for Austin's home debut....and Williams, in his resignation statement, also "qualified" that aspect of his resume.....

Cornell can't get a break attendance-wise......they play a great game and steamroll Wagner, an NEC opponent that doesn't pique the interest of the casual fan, and it comes on a lousy weather day.......then they get perfect weather and play Harvard tough, but it comes when students are away on fall break.....

The Big Red, under Austin and staff, will ALWAYS be prepared.....and they have players who care, who understand commitment, and can see the progress....

I wasn't thrilled with the onside kick call that gave them a short field.....but then after we scored later we kicked off and their return man ran it back to midfield anyway, so I guess I understand the roll of the dice there.....

The process begins.....well, it actually began with off-season weight work...will be interesting to see what kind of progress we make in the trenches, on both sides of the ball.....have to protect the QB and do a better job stopping the run.....that would be a huge step forward....

Sadly, the NHL thinks it's national television.......

I believe Austin was a driving force behind raising funds for the project.....

At the end of last season Austin said something along the lines of, "now we're going to find out who wants to be a football player," indicating an off-season commitment, particularly in the weight room....I guess we're finding out....

The need for speed......Cornell's offense just couldn't stretch a defense last year.....

Austin is flat-out dynamic, has won everywhere he's gone, and there's no doubt in my mind this program will turn the corner, probably sooner than later.....

Of the last five, Penn will obviously be the toughest game, especially if we have any more injuries AND if they don't grab a W somewhere along the line.....but I'm not sure Penn is nearly the team they've been in the past.....bottom line, if a team runs the ball well, we're in big trouble....

Actually, 2012 will only be Austin's second recruiting class....he has yet to recruit a player, having been hired in late January......

Can't afford any more injuries, but I see us competitive in the last five....with at least a couple wins...
