Re: NCAA Tournament Expansion - 22 years ago
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if smaller facilities became viable for regionals now that there are four of them. How does the capacity in Placid compare to Yost or Van Andel?by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Josh Herman '99 wrote: Any chance that if a lot of people write to them and suggest it, Athletics will bid to host one, maybe at the OnCenter? Well, it would mean we'd know where we were playing if we made the NC$$s, but taking the four teams out and shooting three of them at random might be preferable making them play in the War Memorial. Re: [Lax] Brown home finale - 22 years ago
I wasn't saying we should bank on an Ivy title, I was just pointing out that the statment that an at-large bid was our only shot was not true. At any rate, we need to beat Brown to have any shot at the Ivy AQ, and conventional wisdom seems to be that the only way we can get an at-large bid is by winning out, so no matter how you look at it, Saturday's is a "must win" game.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Ben '03 wrote: Gone are the days of "Round the bowl...down the hole...if it's Brown...flush it down." Good, because that's actually a combination of two cheers: "Around the bowl, down the hole, go, Brown, go!" and "If it's Brown, flush it down!" It annoys me that people have mixed those two up. now an at-large is our only shot into the NCAA's and we HAVE to win ouby jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: Next year's schedule (updated) - 22 years ago

Re: TBRW? Awards - 22 years ago
As I was going to add in a footnote: Yes, it's the same Levi Clegg. He was a local boy who was passing through on his way from Cornell to (I believe) Stanford.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: TBRW? Awards - 22 years ago
Of course, the title "Damian Rocke Award" has already been used. Seeby jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: TBRW? Awards - 22 years ago
Yeah, my only disappointment with the way the awards turned out was that Hornby didn't win anything. (Maybe Greg should institute a Dan Dufresne Award.)by jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: TBRW? Awards - 22 years ago
How about Poapst? O'Flaherty? Murley? (I suspect Murley or Palahicky would be Clarkson's least respected opponent.)by jtwcornell91 - Hockey
TBRW? Awards - 22 years ago
Greg should be announcing these, but they seem to be out already...by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Re: Hockey Ratings Applied to Lacrosse including games of April 20 - 22 years ago
Correction: I was missing the two ACC tournament games; Duke's win over Maryland and UVa's win over UNC change the BT top ten as follows: 1. Virginia 2. Johns Hopkins 3. Syracuse 4. Georgetown 5. Cornell 6. Princeton 7. Loyola 8. UMass 9. Yale 10. North Carolina Updated ratings are atby jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Hockey Ratings Applied to Lacrosse including games of April 20 - 22 years ago
With Georgetown's loss to UMass, everyone's Bradley-Terry rating can be expressed on the same scale except for the eight teams at the bottom, who can be considered to have a KRACH of 0 and ignored. This also means that the three-way tie among Syracuse, Hopkins and UVa is resolved, since their other games enter the mix. Cornell drops from #2 to #4 in the Bradley-Terry (and also the KPWR) wiby jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: [Lax] TV? - 22 years ago
The video quality wasn't too good, but the opening highlight segment of this week's Lacrosse Weekly was from "a rainy Tuesday night in Ithaca, NY". They also mentioned the big Cornell-Princeton showdown coming up, and noted Syracuse's and Cornell's positions in the new poll.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Are you willing to go deaf taking a bell-ringing shift if Clarkson ever wins a national championship?by jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: [Lax] TV? - 22 years ago
TV Update: The Cornell-Syracuse game was not covered on last week's Lacrosse Weekly, so I assume it's on this week's. It actually premiered yesterday, but I neglected to watch/tape it. It's on Empire today at 4pm Eastern. Also, the two-week schedule indicates that MSG is showing Hofstra and Duke Friday April 26.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Harvard "fans" - 22 years ago
I seem to recall the jerks who tried to pick a fight with our section being a little skinny to play even Ivy football. The guys we ran into that night at Roomers could have been football players, although the fact that they were wearing ECAC Champions hats led me to believe they were hockey players.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Lacrosse PWR as of April 15 - 22 years ago
I updated the lacrosse PWR tables (thanks to Matt for the score conversion script!). Hopkins and UVa pass us by virtue of improved records vs TUC and by Colgate dropping below .500.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Re: 2003 FF - 22 years ago
I almost certainly can't make it, but I'm interesting in getting tickets just in case and to improve my chances for Boston 2004, which I have a reasonable chance of fitting into my schedule. However, the NCAA seems to have forgotten that I bought tickets in 2001 (and in 1997, but that's not relevant any more). Any idea how to clue the NCAA in to my lottery status?by jtwcornell91 - Hockey
