Re: New baseball field site approval received - 2 years ago
RichH upprdeck yeah. if they fixed the schedule to play in better times.. i get the idea to be done by memorial. buy you could move it back 2-3 weeks as well. been to a ton of games over the years but i dont recall as many really bad weather games but 30-40 yrs ago. longer season causes these issues. I’m not set up right this second to look it up myself. Are there any other outdoor spring spby Weder - Other Sports
Re: Coaches - 2 years ago
marty AHCA. I can't find it right now, but I read something the other day that they were supposed to discuss increasing the maximum number of games in a season -- the logic being that this would encourage teams to schedule the new D1 programs. If they did that, would that be the tipping point for the Ivies to finally go beyond 29?by Weder - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros 2021-2022 - 2 years ago
BearLover upprdeck they only gave the yr to teams that played the 21 season.. since the ivies sat out none of those kids get that year back now unless they were a 5th yr grad and went and played somewhere else i guess. But my question is—what does this mean in practice? At other schools, the kids are all getting five years of eligibility. Does this mean the kids who enrolled at the Ivies duringby Weder - Hockey
Re: Cornell admissions - 2 years ago
upprdeck my experience and talking with lots of parents.. if you go to IHS/Lansing and have decent grades you can get in.. if you go to any of the smaller schools around you have to be in the niche they are looking for.. now if you are the kid of prof or sr admin no question what happens when you apply. Is that the case nowadays? I knew of several classmates at IHS who were children of profesby Weder - John Spencer Is Dead

Al DeFlorio dbilmes Who was the color commentator during the Harvard game? When I watched the Yale game a few weeks earlier, it was only the play-by-play guy. The broadcast was much better with a knowledgable color commentator. Howie Borkan '81...excellent. He usually does radio, right? I wonder if this was a one-time thing or if they’re switching it up for good to give the ESPN+ broadcast,by Weder - Other Sports

billhoward Ken7115 Ivy schools in the top 10. Becoming the quintessential Ivy League sport along with crew and (horse) polo. NCAA rowing, a women's sport only, is mostly dominated by the big state schools these days. (I think the Ivies do a bit better on the men's side.) There are only like 3 Ivy schools that play polo.by Weder - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio Trotsky BearLover Harvard lapping the ECAC in recruiting has come home to roost. Frankly, had last season not been canceled, the 2020-21 Harvard team may been the most talented team in ECAC history post-split with Hockey East. Players who went pro when last season was canceled included Jack Drury, Jack Badini, Jack Rathbone (yes, triple Jack), and Reilly Walsh. Matty Beniers decommittby Weder - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2022 - where's CU social media? - 2 years ago
CU77 billhoward CU77's link to the Inside Lacrosse game story shows two Yale Men's Lacrosse tweets the and one from USA Lacrosse Mag, none from Cornell. If you search "Twitter cornell men's lacrosse" via Google, the first result is freaking Cornell College. That should not be. Twitter, Instagram and TikTok seem dumb to many but it's how a lot of people get their news and how HS/prepby Weder - Other Sports

If you'd like to support the team financially: Mike Schafer email Please read below for the opportunity that exists for Cornell Hockey today. If you have never given to Cornell Hockey, you can have a huge impact by starting today so that we can meet our donor challenge. toddlose dbilmes RichH Jeff Hopkins '82 billhoward mike1960So, so close . . . I noticed at the end of a close game this year, as time ran out, our middie at midfield threw the ball up-up-up with :03 left and the ball had a hangtime of :05. So, close 2009 was. That and not closing out Wisconsin (hockey), 5-2 lead start of the third, got tied, lost OT. I'm sure older alums recall 1969 title gamby Weder - Other Sports
Re: Women's hockey 2022 - 2 years ago
dbilmes The NCAA expanded the women's tourney this year to 11 teams (from 8) in response to complaints of a discrepancy between the men's and women's events. This means 27 percent of the women's teams made the tourney, similar to the men. While the ECAC will most likely only have 1 or 2 ECAC teams in this year's NCAA tourney, 5 of the 11 teams in the women's NCAA tourney are from the ECAC. None oby Weder - Hockey
Re: Women's hockey 2022 - 2 years ago
The conference breakdown in the tournament should be: ECAC: 5 (Colgate, Yale, Quinnipiac, Harvard, Clarkson) WCHA: 4 (Minnesota, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Minnesota-Duluth) HEA: 1 (Northeastern) CHA: 1 (Syracuse)by Weder - Hockey

Trotsky Are there any Cornell alums playing in the KHL currently? I did a very quick search (via Elite Prospects) and it looks like Kirill Gotovets is playing for the team in Omsk.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Women's hockey 2022 - 2 years ago
Indeed, Frechette is first team and Browning is second team. ECAC Hockey Forward: Gillis Frechette, Cornell University Frechette (Jr. - Weston, Mass.) led ECAC Hockey skaters in scoring during league games by a wide margin, recording 36 of her 40 total points against ECAC Hockey opponents. She found the back of the net 10 times and dished out 26 assists, finishing with a +25 on-ice rating fby Weder - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2022 - 2 years ago
RichH Trotsky I can't remember whether it is ESPN+ or one of its 20 precursors, but somebody has a camera in the Zamboni corner for behind the net and it is freaking amazing. I’ve often wondered why there isn’t a permanent controllable camera mounted on the walkway platform above the scoreboard. If you’ve ever stood up there for warmups, the view is incredible. But sure a single row of uselesby Weder - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2022 - 2 years ago
marty billhoward upprdeck i really think these schools need to spend just a small amount of money and get some remote controlled cameras. It would allow much better site lines since they could be elevated in these small arenas. they should each mount a static camera on the 2 blue lines that would help with the random off sides call. Cornell has the 2-3 blind spots with very bad views you dontby Weder - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio Weder Rory Guilday and Lily Delianedis were named to the ECAC all-rookie team and Izzy Daniel made the all-ECAC third team. scoop85 Jim Hyla 3-2 Colgate They were the better team both nights. So next year our players get older and have this experience. And reputedly with one of the top recruiting classes coming in. Big question will be in goal Virtually all of the offensive production will be back next season, so that’s a good start. Trotsky WederIt would be great to have an MSG doubleheader. You misspelled Lake Placid. There or if we must Albany. Not Boston. And certainly not New York. Sorry, I meant for the Thanksgiving weekend game.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Women's hockey 2022 - 2 years ago
Trotsky Would love to see the Women's ECACs be played at Placid alongside the Men's. Grow the appreciation of the game, get more fans' butts in seats, and also make the conference title more of an event. I agree, but you’d need to shift the entire NCAA schedule to do this. The women’s NCAA tournament is underway the weekend of the men’s conference championships. That said, there has been discuby Weder - Hockey
