Re: Time to root for ECAC/IVY - 18 years ago
I have no interested in seeing Harvard even score another goal this season. LGBB. By the same analogy...if you were a Yankee fan would you root for the Red Sox to win the World Series. Or if you were a Giant fan...do you have interest in seeing the Eagles win the Super Bowl. NO Freakin way. I still find it great when the Braves lose in the first round of the playoff.by MattShaf - Hockey

Re: Cornell-Harvard ECAC title post-game thread - 18 years ago
Last night's math is simple. Harvard: 5-10 on the PP; Cornell: 0-8 on the PP. When you get chances, you need to take advantage of them. They did, we didn't. Time to regroup, rest and maybe try to add a wrinkle or two to our game plan for the NCAAs. LGR! Time for the second season.by MattShaf - Hockey
Re: polls 2/27 - 18 years ago
Clearly we've been cut some significant slack due to injuries. Hopefully, we can get healthy and put together a strong ECAC playoff drive to ensure a 2 seed in NCAAs.by MattShaf - Hockey

Re: College Hockey's Top 10 Rivalries - 18 years ago
It's quite alright to hate another team more than your rival. In the early 90's, we always knew Harvard was the "rivalry" game. But, by the end of 4 years and a few heartbreaking losses later, my friends and I truly hated SLUt much more than Harvard.by MattShaf - Hockey

Audio is steady (running on the other computer) VIdeo is completely out again. Let's hope they took it off line to reboot the feed and the server.by MattShaf - Hockey

Re: Cornell 2 Yale 2 - 18 years ago
Not a satisfying game. Either we can't score even strength goals (which is true) or we play to the level of our opponent (and thus lack mental toughness). Tonites result and the weekend reflect poorly on the squad. Not to mention, we drop another point to 'Gate in the conference standings.by MattShaf - Hockey

Final. Good effort. Ungratifying result.by MattShaf - Hockey

Re: Cornell at Princeton postgame thread 1/14/06 - 18 years ago
Scott KominkiewiczAt least Princeton's organist was pretty cool. Anything is better than the canned music they used to play. I especially thought it was funny when he (or she?) played "Kashmir" and "Sympathy for the Devil." That organ was the worst in game music I had ever heard. It felt like being in a church.by MattShaf - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Princeton postgame thread 1/14/06 - 18 years ago
Tough game to watch. A few notes... Can't be disappointed by the effort, only the final score. Sometimes you run into goalies with a double thick pane of glass in front of the net.... Can we please park a forward on the off post during the wrap-arond attempts. We'll give credit to Princeton's defense from keeping us from getting there to bang in one of the first 10 rebounds but after tby MattShaf - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac/Princeton roll call - 18 years ago
Hope to see y'all at the Princeton game tonite with friend Bob Nahmias ('97) of Philly fame.....Depending upon whether former CU hockey standout Ari Chopra can make the game I might even have an extra pair of tickets.by MattShaf - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Quinnipiac postgame - 18 years ago
Quite a good effort last evening. Very sharp early on, with good finishing touch around the net. The cycling in the corner was probably the strongest it has been this year, yielding multiple opportunities from both the point and the slot. Quality defensive effort throughout with McKee cleaning up the few QU chances. As close to a clean game as a coach could want. It's important for a good teby MattShaf - Hockey
Re: Rangers v.s Capitals - 18 years ago
Great Shootout. The look on Malik's face after the goal was nearly as classic as the goal itself....he was like, you doubted that I was going to pull the puck between my legs and lift the puck top shelf to score...by MattShaf - Hockey

I've had Vonage for 2 yrs now. It's great. Has controlled phone bill. Only problem is when cableline has problem (minimal). Would strongly recommend this service.by MattShaf - Hockey
Re: Slope Day - tix for alumni - 19 years ago
I still have my '93 "Don't be a Dope on the Slope T-Shirt...Slope Day '93. Keep it Safe. Keep it Fun. Stay in Control". One of the first attempts at sober monitoring. Unfortunately, I was quite drunk while performing that duty. Fight the power. Have a great slope day!by MattShaf - Hockey
Re: Barry Melrose on ESPN2 - 19 years ago
Not only did he give Cornell props he outright stated McKee should win the Hobey. As a former defenseman, its no surprise he likes CU and our style of play. His second intermission quote stating the UND was going to punish Minnesota furthers support for a team that likes to play strong defensive hockey. I'm glad someone stood up for us and against al this run and gun hockey most of the westernby MattShaf - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Minnesota post game thread - 19 years ago
Unfortunately for Cornell, O'Byrne and the rest of us the puck got STUCK under O'Byrne's skate!! (' ') This is an extremely difficult position from which to do anything with the puck (but fall on it). The puck is visible (so the ref doesn't consider it frozen), the defensive player has a difficult time playing the puck with his stick and if he lifts his foot up.....well, we all know what an offby MattShaf - Hockey
