Re: McKee - 16 years ago
Doug '08I don’t think you will find major opposition to that on this board. While yes, it was clear that McKee benefited from a tremendous system, let’s not forget some of his major accomplishments. Regardless of what anyone thinks about Dave’s numbers being accurate representations of his playing ability or not, it is only fair to give credit where credit was due: Dave McKee was a BIG GAMby Trotsky - Hockey

Re: 2008 TBRW? Predictions! - 16 years ago
ftyuvlast year's predictions put the eventual 1st and 2nd teams at a tie for 5th, while its predicted winner ended up in 2nd, and its predicted 2nd-placer ended up in a tie for 8th. So there's hope for us yet! There's always hope, but not from that direction. This year I took advantage of BRP's recruiting grades to gut and retool the algorithm, and try to make it a little more "common senby Trotsky - Hockey
... the best in the Ivy League (rah rah rah) ... - 16 years ago
Came across a schedule fluke. This season, all five Ivy opponents begin their Ivy schedules against Cornell. Three of the five end their Ivy schedules against Cornell.by Trotsky - Hockey

Re: Is it October yet? - 16 years ago
BeeeejWasn't D'Alessio's freshman year ('88) the last year for a while that we didn't make the ECAC semis in Boston? Clarkson knocked off Cornell at Lynah that year, because they won the stupid minigame after splitting the QF series 1-1. The winning goal was by one of those irritating Finnish brother combinations -- Kekelainen or Tuomainen or something.by Trotsky - Hockey
Re: Is it October yet? - 16 years ago
Doug '08We’ve been spoiled here at goaltender U. That we are. Since 1982, we have had seven different First Team All-American goaltenders. The rest of the current ECAC membership have had eight. Harvard and Clarkson have had zero.by Trotsky - Hockey

Re: Is it October yet? - 16 years ago
I'd say the difference between this year's team being contender for a bye and a contender for an NCAA at large bid is goaltending. Davenport/Scrivens seem like D'Alessio/Crozier. If one of them can have a breakout year, then we're talkin.'by Trotsky - Hockey

Robbmarty DILLIGAF comes to mind though I heard he left school/neglected to graduate. My wife's sister's boyfriend's brother told me that he had to leave due to some ugly off-ice incident involving a grapefruit, a vat of jello, and a cocker spaniel... Excuse me, but I paid to have those negatives destroyed.by Trotsky - Hockey
Date Change for Clarkson Game - 16 years ago
Could screw up people's plans, so worth its own topic: ITHACA, N.Y. -- One change has been made to the upcoming 2007-08 Cornell men's hockey schedule in order to accomodate a national television audience. Cornell will take on Clarkson at 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2008, at Lynah Rink in a contest that will be televised by ESPNU. The game against Clarkson was originally scheduled toby Trotsky - Hockey

ftyuvI love this good-cop-bad-cop thing D'gaf pulls. Or rather, intelligent-post-retarded-trolling. Keeps me on my toes! Classic trolling technique. Throwing in an intelligent post every once in a while convinces some people you mean well -- you might even get a few poor suckers to defend you. That gives you cover for the next asinine flame. It isn't limited to board posters. Politicalby Trotsky - Hockey

billhowardI've heard a description of even worse: playing the day after the circus leaves town and the ice wasn't taken up. Some of the urine seeps through the plywood underlayment, infuses the ice, and it takes more than one or two Zamboni passes until the worst smell is once again the players' pads and pants. That actually happens all year round, regardless of whether the circus has been in tby Trotsky - Hockey

Re: Big Red Article on CSTV. - 16 years ago
It's wrong of me to note in passing that Jeanne Clery was hot. Also, her gravestone is punctuated incorrectly. Bummer. I thought the Cornell public safety policy was a result of that late 80's North Campus murder where some student's nutbar boyfriend drove up from NYC to kill her and wound up killing her roommate instead as well. IIRC, the family then tried to sue Cornell for eleventyby Trotsky - Hockey

sah67It's one thing if you're a big Romano fan...but to keep slinging mud at Schafer and bringing it into every thread you post in, regardless of the original topic, and then to go ahead and complain about him doing the same thing to a much less harsh degree is flat-out hypocritical. He's not hypocritical, he's just another troll. We've had them before. Ignore him; he will go away. It works.by Trotsky - Hockey

Jordan 04I am missing what is so bad about this...It bites for people coming from Ithaca. It's nice to have the two "east coast" swings separated.by Trotsky - Hockey
Re: 2007-2008 Schedule released - 16 years ago
I'm assuming the "Trois-Rivieres" is the UQTR Patriotes college team (a perennial powerhouse), not the juniors team. I thought there was a rule about having just one non-NCAA exhibition unless you applied for a waiver (for, say, a Europe tour). That changed? (We would play two canuck colleges pretty regularly in the 80's, IIRC, but then there was talk of A Rule.)by Trotsky - Hockey

Re: No more "Bonus" points - 16 years ago
Nice to see them giving the Olympic sheets the finger. If they really wanted to encourage the big programs to go on the road, they would: (1) factor a weight for venue directly into strength of schedule for ALL games -- say, 1.1x for a road win (or home loss) and .9x (or whatever the reciprocal is -- .8x?) for a road loss (or home win) (2) impose a simple rule for "neutral site"by Trotsky - Hockey

RichHI'm sure his skills will be quite raw, as it took those other guys a couple years to really grow and excel to the level of the Burgoyne class of defensemen. To be fair, that's a pretty high bar to get over. I agree with your two types, although I'd argue, even if Age is listening, that Murray combined both strengths, which is why he was one of only two Cornell All-American (twice!) defeby Trotsky - Hockey

Re: Luke Galvin out, Paul Stewart in - 16 years ago
Well, one of two things is going to happen. Either Stewart is going to bring professionalism to the ECAC that it hasn't seen since... well... ever. Or he's going to quickly get sick of the half-assed mentality of the conference administration and quit.by Trotsky - Hockey
