Yes, I can't get past Monday. I emailed them about it.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: College Hockey All-Star Game - 22 years ago
Al, exactly. In fact more correctly, I believe that drovers usually referred to those who drove the animals to market. There are in fact a number of drovers inns around.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Retired Numbers - 22 years ago
As far as I know, Cornell lined up by the numbers with Ned. Since, not even I was there before that, I don't know any further back. Briefly later they stopped doing it. Maybe it was during Reycroft, but I don't remember. Another interesting sidelight was that Coach Harkness used to have the players swarm around him rather than the goalie, just before the faceoff. That continued for a while afterby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: CHAMPIONS! (PART 2) - 22 years ago
At every away game, if I'm not mistaken. No, you're not mistaken. That's where he is. "I didn't mean it when I touched the TA" "every other person associated with him went out of their way to vindicate him, and it was eventually settled that these were false accusations brought on by malicious intent" I don't know where you guys get your quotes, or are they your own with quby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Who's number 10 - 22 years ago
Well 2 games left and our only question is who do we play? As mentioned on another thread, I also would not want to play St. Law.. For my money, I'd pick either PU or Union over either Yale or St. Law..by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Game DQ for Palahicky - 22 years ago
Totally agree. He lost control. It's not that it was onesided, as there were calls that should have gone against us, but unfortunately his loss of control and Clarksons led to the fight.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Cornell VS Clarkson , Saturday Feb 23rd - 22 years ago
He got a 10 min. misconduct, but not game DQ. However they did get 2 game DQ's involving their best players with the fight right before the end.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: CHAMPIONS! (PART 2) - 22 years ago
If you watch at away games, including ECAC at LP, You will see him at the door to the ice as the players come out. He's always there slapping each guy as he jumps onto the ice. As Mark mentioned, he's been a goal judge at home games as far back as I can remember. However, I have to say I didn't pay attention to those things when I was a student. So I don't know when he started.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: cornell's olympic showing (pat-pat) - 22 years ago
Especially when he can do it twice in a row because the first was offside, thereby continuing an undefeated season.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Offtopic: Olympics - 22 years ago
Hey, NBC is doing a great job,IMHO. You guys from out of town should realize that commercials interupt broadcasts of hockey. How come you don't complain about Gradys broadcasts? After all when he goes to commercial breaks and comes back the action has usually been restarted. I've never remember once reading about complaints here about that. Of course I certainly don't remember every post, so I coby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Offtopic: Olympics - 22 years ago
How the heck did Belarus just beat the best team in the world? I guess just like Clarkson last year, they are not the best team. Quite frankly, although many like to complain about the US, and heaven knows in the past they have deserved it, this year they are looking like they may be the best team. As an aside, I'd have Brett Hull on my team any day.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: ECAC FANS - 22 years ago
But isn't the point to get as wide a following as possible? If all we do is let ourselves know about it, what's the point? Anyway anybody who wants to know about our cheers only has to go to Michigan. After all, they got a good percentage of them from us, and frankly I'm happy to be able to point that out to them. The more the merrier.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Everything But Anchovies - 22 years ago
when many of us (ok, not Al and Jim) were at Cornell, Bob had been making sandwiches for a LOONNNG time, close to 40 years by the time he retired. Well it's nice to be known for something, isn't it Al.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: This is not a poll - 22 years ago
I'll vote for the first poll post to mention that at least Harvard did't get any votes.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: New TBRW Feature: Complete Scoring List - 22 years ago
Thanks again for keeping this up. It's a great reference.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: SLU cheers - 22 years ago
Look, why don't we all support this guy. Anything that gets ECAC enthusiasm going is good. Let's all say go for it.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: The Student Manager, a Cheer for Rohan - 22 years ago
I'm all for it, but just make sure everyone knows. Maybe you could make a poster, or have a notation put on the words to the Alma Mater that are distributed.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Everything But Anchovies - 22 years ago
You're right it has been there forever. After a night of goofing off, and right before one had to get to the books, someone would yell "Purity run" and we would all pile into a car for a fresh packed pint, or so, of delicious ice cream. And yes it's still there and just as good as in the sixties. When I drove back from Elmira with our new Gordon Setter puppy last summer we stopped therby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: YUCK...WE LOST - 22 years ago
Like I said before, if you can get that excited about beating CU & CU, then good luck in the tournaments.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: ECAC FANS - 22 years ago
Check our links, but you must make your results available to us since we made it so easy for you.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Perspective - 22 years ago
For instance, Danny Schayes was the best Jewish player in the NBA for a while. You decide if the title is worth having. On the other hand, when you consider how long it took him to mature in college and how many years he lasted in the pros, say nothing of his money (especially when compared to what his father was able to earn in the NBA), I'd be willing to take that title any day. There goes aby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Quarterfinal Tickets - 22 years ago
Call them; I assume Monday, as they have been selling them to season ticket holders since we originally bought our tickets last summer/fall.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Scores During The Game - 22 years ago
Age, another thought about your wonderful forum. During the games, is there any way to have scores of CU and the other games displayed along the banner at the top? Maybe replacing the poll during that time. I was thinking that a few of us would be responsible for following the games and reporting the scores to everyone. I know that area is not accessible to us for good reason, but, if somethingby Jim Hyla - Hockey
