jmh30 Wrote: So, as I was saying. Vemont? Not that good. Or maybe St. Lawrence will be the real deal. They've only split with Wisconsin, beat Miami and now VT, which go 1,2,3 in the poll. Yep they dropped one to RIT, but I'll look past that...by abmarks - Hockey

Has anyone on this board that is regularly bashing Vermont actually seen them play this year? I have. And they are a very good team. Very highly skilled and they come to play every night. Re: Cornell 3 @ Brown 2 FINAL/OT (game thread) - 18 years ago
well at least for once some announcers said what they really felt. Nothing worse than a broadcaster trying to be *neutr* and watering down their opinions. I don't think I have ever heard more vividly negative dexcriptions of refereeing, though I am sure many a broadcaster would like to do the same. It's not like it's a national broadcast... f CSTVby abmarks - Hockey

Cornell has made 5 trips in 10 seasons. If they go next year, that will be 6/11, which isn't close to the record of 6/7. However, the record for 7 is 7/14. Therefore, if Cornell can make 2 trips in the next 3 seasonby abmarks - Hockey

Re: the band. The band is in A because it's close to the visiting teams locker room. (Told that by Schafer back in the days of his assistantship) Made it very hard to hear in the visiting locker room evidently I'd bet they put the bacn in whatever position they find the most advantageous (in whatever way they find advantageous.....) Re: Attempting to retrieve the cowbell - 19 years ago
It seems to me that the administrative hacks are working way to hard to sucj the fun out of the game. What's next? no bands? ROck musiic piped in instead? Piped in clapping noise? Oh wait, that's suspiciously like Vermont now....by abmarks - Hockey

Someone should write the NCAA. If that is how a host institution is going to act, perhaps they should not be allowed to be a host institution, particularly if they aren't going to follow the rules, or bend them to their own benefit.....by abmarks - Hockey

Noone can say we cant play with the big boys. OT one-goal loss? We played our game against them the way you had to on that big sheet. On a normal sheet we'd have more shots, but I think it was well coached. A TON of those shots had no chance at all - either bad angle or long shot that was seen all the way in. We also didn't have too many PP chances either...especially with the whistles tucby abmarks - Hockey

I haven't bashed obyrne at all this year (being out of town) but as it happend live, i said NO NO NO as he went to hold the puck with noone near him..ask my TV I was screaming at it. Someone else let their man loose though for that guy to get the pass and shot. McKee great 1st save, no chance on rebound. Re: 2005-06 Schedule - 19 years ago
But there is something to this "corporateness." I think it's what encourages fans to "expect" titles and such. If we ever become a perennial contender, which I think we are precariously close to becoming right now, I will never expect it. Every title will be a gift from hockey heaven. I hope that Cornell fans will always feel that way. That's what I was trying to say in aby abmarks - Hockey
Re: 2005-06 Schedule - 19 years ago
Scersk- Ann Arbor will never compare to Ithaca, nor Michigan to Cornell, you're right. I think I should have taken more careful time to make clear what I meant. I grow up in Burlington VT and attended almost every UVM game from the time I was 5 until I got out of high school. THen on to Ithaca, and later on to UM. But I did take exeption to your suggestion that once a team becomes successful, no fans enjoy winning anymore. That's a bit too much hyperbole. Rather, the first in a string is likely the *most* enjoyable. And while we were favored in 03, maybe underdog isn't the right word. We had something to prove. Like it or not we were still the EZAC in the eyes of many until we won something, so toby abmarks - Hockey
