Re: Cornell @ Yale - 21 years ago
That makes much more sense. Had they told me that over the phone I would understood.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Yale - 21 years ago
I was trying to buy HOME game tickets (no arbitrage of buying and selling) against BU, Sunday after Thanksgiving 2002. But they would not let me buy it over the phone. They said cash only at the ticket window. Of course, there was no guarantee there would be any left when I got there and I wasn't going to drive for four hours without a secure ticket.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Yale - 21 years ago
I got mine from the Yale ticket office back in December, the same day they announced the game was going to be on TV. Has any one else been frustrated by the Cornell ticket office? I wanted to go up to for one of the BU games. They had a few tickets available for sale the morning of the Sunday game but you couldn't get them with a credit card. What's the deal with that?by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: First Half TBRW? Award Choices - 21 years ago
I had managed to forget Pierre Belanger for the last 8 years. . . . Anyone remember the phantom five minute major in the Harvard game during 1993-1994? Did he call that game?by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Hobey Baker Fan Voting - 21 years ago
It doesn't appear the Ferris State fans had to debate long over what order they would vote for their guys: Kunitz, Chris (LW, Ferris State) 433 60 39 2384 Brown, Mike (G, Ferris State) 28 347 43 1224 Legue, Jeff (C, Ferris State) 4 27 217 318by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Hobey Baker Fan Voting - 21 years ago
I think it is worth reiterating that the fan voting does not even come close to being the deciding factor in who actually wins the award. That said it is not so much a pointless exercise in that it provides the fans with some entertainment. I wonder how accurate a college sports award can be in that the teams do not play every other team and the voters do not get to see every player in action.by nyc94 - Hockey

Re: Post the Ivy Standings - 21 years ago
I just thought since it only involved six teams and 30 games over four months that someone could do it manually. I don't mean a huge compilation of statisitics. I just want to know the W-L-T pts GF GA of each team. I know it's out there. I just want it closer to "home".by nyc94 - Hockey
Post the Ivy Standings - 21 years ago
Could we get the standings posted on this site, particularly the Ivy standings? The only place I know to find them is the official Ivy League site which takes an eternity to load on dial up. Make eLynah one stop shopping.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Quantifications - 21 years ago
There are so many exits from Lynah that I can't believe it's a real fire trap. I know that isn't the same thing as being up to code but I seriously think you could empty that place in 5 minutes.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Hobey Baker Fan Voting - 21 years ago
"So wait, if you vote every day, that's not stuffing the ballot box? What is? Multiple votes on one day?" Yes. Of course this isn't scientific but voting once per day, everyday is playing within the rules as established by people without common sense. "If everyone can recast their vote every day, why not just have the polls open for one day only?" I guess it's so that youby nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Hobey Baker Fan Voting - 21 years ago
Each of us voting once per day is within the rules even if we all discuss a preferred order. I think they are talking about stopping people from registering a dozen email addresses and voting a dozen times a day, every day. That said, I think fan input in the Hobey Baker vote is useful as far as nominating players and paring down the resulting list. I think the site explains that the fan influby nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Hobey Baker Fan Voting - 21 years ago
I'm voting LeNeveu, Bâby, and Murray - in that order - if anyone cares. I think if Lenny keeps his numbers near where they are now it makes him the best goalie in the country which will distinguish him from a pack of offensive players - especially should Cornell take the ECAC regular season and tournament crowns.by nyc94 - Hockey

Re: Hobey Baker Fan Voting - 21 years ago
Well they are ahead and based on the standings on the Hobey Baker site, our fans aren't voting at all. Nine people voting everyday beats nobody voting never.by nyc94 - Hockey

Get out the vote!! North Dakota's fans are stuffing the box.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Quantifications - 21 years ago
Makes you wonder how few seats Princeton had before the renovation. From a fan's perspective, Lynah's facilities are pretty good with the addition of the field house - bathrooms, concession stands, etc. Maybe they should have done something with Lynah then. Was there anything on the site of the current field house (and what are they calling it these days)?by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Quantifications - 21 years ago
As a student I often wondered what it would take to expand seating at Lynah and the conclusion I always came to is, you can't. The space behind the last row of seats is too narrow - you would have to push out the exterior walls or do something like Princeton's rink with a second set of walls (I assume that design is the result of a renovation otherwise it makes no sense). And how high could a mby nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Why you (as a fan) should behave at a hockey game - 21 years ago
Colgate fans tried to start a fight with us AT LYNAH in SECTION F during the ECAC quarterfinals in 1991 during the third period of an 8-1 Cornell victory which followed a 10-3 victory in the first game. I have yet to see bad behavior by Cornell fans at any away game. Showing up in large numbers is hardly reason to throw food at the opposing teams fans.by nyc94 - Hockey

I realize they are two entirely different styles of pizza but I will take The Nines deep dish any day of the week.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Dammit - 21 years ago
What were the odds that I would buy tickets to the game in the morning only to find out later in the day on USCHO.com that the game would be on TV? Oh well, at least I can get a pizza at Pepe's.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Way OT: Celebs at Harvard - 21 years ago
Well, it may be an exaggeration but it comes to me from pretty good sources in the Boston radio scene that were at the show. I'm inclined to believe something happened.by nyc94 - Hockey
Way OT: Celebs at Harvard - 21 years ago
Let's hope she's a little bit more mature. A few years back Queen Amidala threw a tantrum at the door to the Roxy in Boston before a show by Moby. The people at the door didn't want to let her in because she wasn't 21. She used the "Do you know who I am?" routine.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Above it all - 21 years ago
I'm a little pessimistic as well, especially with a goalie who's total time in net for the year is 0 minutes. But I think we have a chance if the team can keep things under control at the beginning of the game and not fall behind like the New Hampshire game last year or as Harvard did against Maine. Presumably, the coaches have the defense prepared. Also, I think the veteran players are readyby nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Hahvahd vs. BC - 21 years ago
How many seats did they give you this year? One of the years they (reluctantly) gave us 200 seats we were practically the only people there. The most full I ever saw the Bright Center was in December 1992 when we really sucked - we didn't even make the ECAC tournament that year - and we lost the game 6-1.by nyc94 - Hockey
Re: Hahvahd vs. BC - 21 years ago
I was in charge of that event multiple times in the late '90s and every year Harvard's ticket office pulled something different. One year they were very slow in producing the tickets and in telling us how many we would get (We generally asked for 200). We didn't advertise until December because we didn't have the tickets. Anyway, yes, I know the event sells out quickly. It didn't stop peopleby nyc94 - Hockey
