Q and BU scoreless after 2 periods in a competitive gameby Iceberg - Hockey

I wonder who starts in net on Saturday at MSG given last night's result. I will not guess this time but BearLover is free to do soby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Princeton 11/18/23 - 5 months ago
I didn't think the team created a lot of good opportunities in the game. Smith faced a lot of shots but most weren't anything particularly threatening. He had a few very good saves (e.g. near the end of the major) but the biggest failure of the game was the inability to do anything on the multiple extra-man opportunities. Princeton was content to trap the whole game and while they did actually plby Iceberg - Hockey

I lauded the offense yesterday but this game. Lolby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Princeton 11/18/23 - 5 months ago
HeafDog This is probably the smallest CU contingent I've seen at Baker Arena in a very long time. At least several years, if not a decade or more. They sold a lot of seats to local youth players seemingly. They're all on the balcony. Meanwhile, major penalty on Princetonby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Princeton 11/18/23 - 5 months ago
Trotsky The "sell out" looks about 70% full. It's definitely full. Many folks are standing against the walls. Where I'm sitting feels a bit like Lynah South minus the few Princeton folks who seem to personally know the PU goaltenderby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Quinnipiac , 11/17/23 - 5 months ago
The good news is that this team has some skilled forwards who can score. The bad news is that the defense may be a problem during the season against better teams, of which the poor PP is a symptom. Still a lot of season left and there are many young guys on the team but this game should've been closer even with Q clearly having more speed and overall talentby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Quinnipiac , 11/17/23 - 5 months ago
I don't think Koepple has looked that bad given what he's had to face since coming in. And as far as Shane goes, I wasn't just thinking about this game but the two last weekend. Maybe we see him in net at Princeton tomorrow but if Schafer decided to go with Koepple, it wouldn't be particularly groundbreaking or surprising.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Quinnipiac , 11/17/23 - 5 months ago
chimpfood Wow these quinnipiac announcers piss me off The one guy whom they have in the booth (the student player) this period is at least knowledgeable about goaltending but the PBP guy is somethingby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Princeton 11/18/23 - 5 months ago
billhoward Seats for the visiting team are typically in the Princeton balcony. In the past 3 decades, I've gotten tickets blocks with the Cornell club a couple times, always balcony, and once as visitor tickets, also balcony, we've gotten standing room tickets night-of-game until 5 years ago, now bought standing room a week in advance, and always found empty seats behind the Cornell bench and cerby Iceberg - Hockey

I think regardless of this game's result we see Koepple tomorrowby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Princeton 11/18/23 - 5 months ago
Seated tickets have been gone for some time. I know my local alumni association bought a block early on and that sold out quickly. I'll be at the game and I fully expect there to be a ton of Cornell people. Great to have it be the last game before MSG, tooby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Fish N Fowl 11/11/23 - 5 months ago
shafer Mullahy has been the better goalie, even as our shots haven’t tested him enough. As long as I've been watching these Harvard/Cornell games, it's the same story of a random Harvard goalie looking better than he typically is. Very rarely is Cornell running away with a lead in these games. Meanwhile, that's 0-5-2 in the last 7 against Harvard if the broadcast is to be believed.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Fish N Fowl 11/11/23 - 5 months ago
ER Shane has given up two soft goals that I saw coming. Not sure what is going on with him He didn't look great on either goal but his defense needs to be better. I don't know what the PK was doing on Gaffney's rush. This is definitely one of the weaker Harvard teams in a while, but they're outplaying the home team. That needs to change in the next two periodsby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 11/10 Dartmouth game thread - 5 months ago
On the broadcast, it definitely looked like the shot changed direction and went higher than Shane expected it to. I thought it hit a Dartmouth player's stick but maybe not. It certainly wasn't cleanby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: 11/10 Dartmouth game thread - 5 months ago
Trotsky Seger pantsed Cooper Black. A bigger goalie like that is always going to be susceptible at the five hole. No surprise both goals were low. And given the appearance of the league this year, I could see Dartmouth being in the running for a bye if things go their way. They don't play in Hanover again for a while (tonight was the first of seven consecutive away games), but they shouldby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey Jerseys? - 5 months ago
Chris '03 ugarte Trotsky They strip the names and numbers off which sucks.Back then it was just names that came off. I chose #2 for Ratushny but you can tell from the size of the ghost of the old nameplate in the removed stitching that it had been Travis Bell's Names and captaincy letters came off. Sometimes they took the ecac patch off too I think. I have one I bought as a student and thankfby Iceberg - Hockey

Brown being toyed with now. The pass resulting in that 7th goal was fantasticby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Brown, 11/04/23 - 5 months ago
That was a very comedic display of defense to let Penney walk in like thatby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Brown, 11/04/23 - 5 months ago
It sure looked like O'Leary was at least held or tripped before the Brown PP beganby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Brown, 11/04/23 - 5 months ago
dag14 OMG it looks like the players outnumber the fans in the arena! Yeah, Meehan looks empty on the broadcastby Iceberg - Hockey

Big Dingus Also no one wants to camp out anymore… This isn’t the 80s get used to it There were people camping out as recently as my freshman year (2010-11). I think it stopped shortly afterby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell v Yale, 11/3/23 - 5 months ago
Dafatone Not our best-looking game, but we kept Yale from getting a lot of good chances and took advantage of ours. Wouldn't shock me if Yale is decent this year. They're certainly better than they were last season--much quicker and tenacious. Cornell still has more talent but Yale is obviously a team not to be taken lightlyby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell v Yale, 11/3/23 - 6 months ago
Swampy I'm planning to attend the game at Yale and have some questions: Where are the best seats for visitors? The Yale website offers parking, apparently for an extra fee. Is this really necessary, or is free parking readily available nearby? Is there anythng else one should know about attending the game at Yale? Back in February, I had a ticket for a seat in aisle 3, but I sometimes stby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: University of Minnesota Duluth @ Cornell , 10/28/23 - 6 months ago
Duluth came out better today but it still wasn't enough to match the home team. I suspect they'll be in the lower half of the NCHC by the end of the year but that still doesn't take away from Cornell's showing given the significant change in personnelby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: University of Minnesota Duluth @ Cornell , 10/27/23 - 6 months ago
12-4 in shots favoring Cornell. Offense has looked great against Duluth's defenders so far although I'm sure Sandelin isn't too happy about his guys being generally outperformed in their own zoneby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell football 2023 - 6 months ago
Trotsky Even as a rabid hockey fan I gotta ask: why should athletics be a priority? If it's a net revenue generator then, fine, use it as an engine to fund legitimate academic pursuits. But if it loses money... fuck it. It's a bauble for a minority of students, usually quite wealthy students, who often don't belong on campus anyway. Not sure if you're lumping athletics facilities into thisby Iceberg - Other Sports
Re: 2023-24 MEN'S SCHEDULE - 7 months ago
Individual tickets for the game at Princeton go on sale today. No purchase link yet available but I imagine that'll change soon. Edit: Apparently only standing room tickets are available--not even 48 hours after purchase became possible. May also be that many group tickets sold so not as many individual seats availableby Iceberg - Hockey
2023 NCAA baseball tournament - 11 months ago
Penn became the first Ivy League team to beat a SEC team in the tournament (Auburn) and after yesterday, is one win away from being the first team in the conference to get to the round of 16 in the current format. Not much chatter about it locally given Penn's perception and relationship with the city, but definitely a big deal given the relative lack of national success the conference has had inby Iceberg - Other Sports

Trotsky They can yell "HARDER!" again, that's nice. Was he playing around the time "We want Weder" became a thing or am I off by a few years?by Iceberg - Hockey
