Cornell at Dartmouth, 1/27 - 3 months ago
Dartmouth hasn't won too many games since the end of the winter break and lost in OT yesterday. The game is in Hanover, though, so it'll probably be closer than it needs to beby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Harvard, 1/26 - 3 months ago
I think the nearby ref there straight up missed it. He was focused on the puck and didn't catch the high stick in his line of vision. Speaking of the PP, there was a lot more down low movement compared to the past games. No goal came of it but it made the Harvard PKers actually have to workby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Harvard, 1/26 - 3 months ago
Looking at the play again, I still wonder why the refs didn't just award a goal when O'Leary was taken down on his way to the empty net. He was definitely tripped and he had already gotten ahead of the defender.by Iceberg - Hockey

BearLover I agree that the Harvard announcers are really good. Was the current NJ Devils announcer seriously doing Harvard games for ESPN+? Yes, Bill Spaulding, who actually has ties to upstate NY.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Harvard, 1/26 - 3 months ago
Trotsky I'll throw up in my mouth a little, but the Harvard announcers have been excellent. The current NJ Devils television PBP guy did Harvard games for a few years pre-pandemic, so they've had some competence in that department for at least some timeby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Quinnipiac, 1/20 - 3 months ago
Classes start tomorrow so I think this is a case of a lot of students just waiting until the last minute to return to campus. For all the folks like me who tried to get back from the break earlier, there were a great many who didn't and I'm sure that's still the case. As far as rush week goes, it has changed a lot in the past one to two decades as Greek Life has been tagged with more restricby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Quinnipiac, 1/20 - 3 months ago
ugarte the pp that got cut short by the Fegaras interference penalty was a blitzkrieg. more of that, please. That was one of the scummiest attempts to draw a penalty I've seen. The Q player clearly backed into him and them embellished so well that he could've gotten an Oscar nomination. Thankfully it didn't result in anythingby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Quinnipiac, 1/20 - 3 months ago
The umbrella PP needs to go. Occasionally it works such as on the 2nd goal, but no movement below the faceoff dots makes it too easy for PKersby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Odds of winning 2024 NCAAs - 3 months ago
And then you have instances like in 2015 where Providence basically gets two home games in the regional despite being a low seed and doesn't need to travel far for the FF--to a city they visit most seasons no lessby Iceberg - Hockey

Colgate and Maine tie after a potential Colgate GWG is waved off on OT. Not a bad effort by the visiting teamby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 4 months ago
arugula Anyone watching Princeton’s beating the hell out of Harvard? Harvard has one win! How in gods name did we lose to them? Donato is a terrible coach. I saw the highlights and Harvard's defense looked like a comedy show before some of those Princeton goals. Two of the defenders literally ran into each other in one instance!by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Arizona State, 12/30 7:30 pm - 4 months ago
Stanley with a few well-timed pinches this weekend resulting in quality shots (including the goal yesterday). I wonder if they've been having him attack more after seeing his previous games because he's more noticeable on the offense now.by Iceberg - Hockey

ASU looks like a big team. Quite physical to start, tooby Iceberg - Hockey

First of three consecutive games against ASU tomorrow.by Iceberg - Hockey

The PBP guy is the same person who does Clarkson gamesby Iceberg - Hockey

I'd be surprised if Morrow doesn't get disciplined and winds up not playing tomorrow. He clearly went after Seger with ill intent well after the whistleby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs UMass at Lake Placid -- 12/29 4 pm - 4 months ago
Fegaras needs to get rid of that sooner. There was plenty of time to at least move it to one of the two nearby defendersby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs UMass at Lake Placid -- 12/29 4 pm - 4 months ago
That should be waved off. The UMass player hit it off the top of the netby Iceberg - Hockey

Penn (not counting the massive healthcare arm) is such a bubble in the city that I only heard about this when Huntsman basically called for Magill's head.by Iceberg - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Cornell v Colgate, 12/02/23 - 4 months ago
I couldn't see much of the game but from what little I saw and what I've read here, I'm glad I didn't. At least they'll have a few weeks of too reset before the tournament at Lake Placid and ultimately a few games against OOC opponents away from Lynahby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Colgate, 12/01/2023 - 5 months ago
billhoward Color man was the dark, silent type. Very silent, all game long. Colgate: You can't find a former player, a student with Newhouse School aspirations, somebody who'll offer some insights like "that was some kinda play"? Has he ever had a color commentator? In all the games I've listened to him, I can't recall if there ever has been one on the Colgate broadcastby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Colgate, 12/01/2023 - 5 months ago
Refs fail to call a clear interference penalty and a Colgate goal happens right after because of course.by Iceberg - Hockey
Re: Cornell in the Valley of the Sun - 5 months ago
Steve M I'm going to both games, but haven't bought tickets yet. Anyone know if the Cornell alumni association has a block of tickets, and how to get them if they did? It has been almost 15 years since I've been to a Cornell game. I live in California. You should contact one of the club leads. The last time the team played at ASU, there were definitely people from the alumni association whoby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: CU-BU 2023 - 5 months ago
andyw2100 BearLover I meant televised on actual TV. The games on ESPN+ tend to have one commercial timeout per period. Games on actual TV tend to have three commercial timeouts per period (at least pro games and college games in the NCAA tournament). Tonight’s game had three per period. Speaking about the ads, why were there no Cornell ads? In the past, the school ads were split evenly betweenby Iceberg - Hockey
Re: CU-BU 2023 - 5 months ago
arugula Thoughts about Caron? It was an interesting reversal. In the past two years we would dominate Brown and Caron would keep them close. Today BU mostly controlled the first two half of the game and Shane kept us close. Caron played well but Shane was definitely better. The former has gotten some criticism from BU folks this season and I'm not convinced he doesn't give up more goals if Coby Iceberg - Hockey

The games at MSG always have additional stoppages due to broadcast commercials. Definitely not a Hockey East thingby Iceberg - Hockey
