MattS Every student in sections A & B should give up their tickets for the remainder if the season. They were chanting the assinine "bend over" while a penalty shot was taking place. If they are going to pay so little attention to the game they might as well not come. And in other game notes the D looks horrible. Craig should not have gotten another shift for his dumb roughing pby BearLover - Hockey

Kyle Rose BearLoverand the improved ECAC is the biggest reason. Is it? What I see is a correlation between Cornell's recent woes and the rise of programs like Yale and Union and Quinnipiac, but I have seen no actual evidence the second is the cause of the first. Personally, I'd say problems #1 and #2 are (in no particular order) the difficulty the coaching staff has had in adjusting to the fby BearLover - Hockey
Re: 11/9 Union - 10 years ago
MattS KeithKBut whether or not you think the sky is falling you come off sounding that way. Agreed. I don't recall saying anything about Cornell being finished. I simply argued against all the people celebrating Yale's win. I realistically think Yale winning makes Cornell worse off, and that's all I ever said.by BearLover - Hockey

ugarte BearLover KGR11 There's a graphic in tbrw.info that shows NCAA Postseason opponents that paints a good picture of Cornell's success in the NCAA tournament and their ability to make it in. Kyle Rose Trotsky Kyle RoseYours is a fallacy that kills otherwise prudent investors all the time.I don't think either of us is saying anything strong enough to warrant a term like "fallacy." We are arguing differences in degree only -- when has a trend gone on long enough to constitute a preponderance of evidence, and when do past results "time out" in their relevance to preby BearLover - Hockey

Trotsky BearLoverHow many times are we going to fall for the effort being the problem? At this point it has to be something else. Not sure what you are referring to. Talent? There are 7 NHL draft picks on the roster. Coaching ability? Schafer is the most successful active ECAC coach. Inflexibility? That seems to be the gist of a lot of the comments for the last few seasons. Maybe it is a gby BearLover - Hockey

scoop85 unionhockeynews I just got back from Schafer's postgamer, and here's what he had to say: Union reacton: Bennett: Gostisbehere, Ikkala: Schafer was obviously ticked-off at his team's effort, and who can blame him. ScrewBU It's one thing to lose (poorly,) but it's an entirely different thing to lose like this. They aren't as talented as the other players in the league, that much has been clear for some time, but to not even try? These kids are an embarrassment. Re: 11/9 Union - 10 years ago
Does anyone actually think this team is good? This team is 0-6 or 1-5 without Iles. EDIT: Sorry, will expand so this isn't dismissed as a troll post. Cornell gets badly outshot almost every game. They show no semblance of offensive skill except on the top line or two, but the top lines of other teams are faster and more coordinated. Townie Jim Hyla Maybe if we had more of this we'd have more cheering? That's a bingo. An obvious example: men's basketball attendance barely reached 1,000 before its 3-year Ivy dominance that filled Newman with "Newman Nation" t-shirts and heavy frat participation. Steve Donohue's miraculous success building a WINNING team filled the other 3,500 seats. Not surprisingly, attendance is nby BearLover - Hockey

Does anyone know who is in charge of hockey ticket decisions? I'd like to write them an email.by BearLover - Hockey
Re: 11/2 Quinnipiac - 10 years ago
Is there any reason student season tickets need to be $230? I'm confident they would sell out if they were cheaper. If the tickets are selling anyway, then sure, $230 is fine. But they aren't, and every other sport is totally free, which makes no sense. Who makes this decision, anyway?by BearLover - Hockey

Swampy Regarding enthusiasm: 1. Trotsky started this thread on the day of the Q game at 4:13 that afternoon. It was the only post before game time. Students want to get trashed and go to hockey games. I don't know if overbearing ushers or something else is the problem, but it's not the same as it was just a few years ago. I repeat: I have NEVER seen Section D not entirely standing in my many years following this team. E has always been standing too, but you can just forget about that now. Re: 11/2 Quinnipiac - 10 years ago
andyw2100 CowbellGuy I heard the people in D were told they had to sit. Not sure if that came from people in C or E complaining, but there it is. If that's true it would be completely inconsistent with an e-mail sent to student ticket holders before this weekend's games. Trotsky Kyle Rose Trotskywith Yale fading. Would have been nice if Cornell had been able to figure out how to beat Yale at their peak. Once in 5 years is pretty bad, and does not give me confidence that the coaching staff has any clue how to beat teams playing a similar game.I don't think there was really any "figuring it out."
