Re: ESPN+ - 4 years ago
While the game is live, ESPN+ jumps to the current time. The replay is usually available less than 30 min after it ends if you can avoid spoilers.by tretiak - Hockey

To all of the folks who can't seem to pull for the Rangers, which part of "David Leneveu will dress for the NYR" are you folks not understanding? Ben Scrivens > David LeNeveuby tretiak - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four Results - 11 years ago
Well, the real beach is on the other side of campus, and when I was there was very popular with grad students for having a free parking lot closer to the Physics building than our designated parking, as long as a cop didn't see you park and walk to campus rather than the beach. (A friend of mine once got a ticket for being parked at the beach with Physics books in the back seat of his car.) The cby tretiak - Hockey

Goleta! Interesting that you picked the west-coast campus that rivals Cornell in its macabre obsession with its natural terrain (Cornell's gorges vs. UCSB's bluffs). Do the people who post pics of UCSB actually go to the beach in IV?by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Harvard Lax - 11 years ago
It took Cornell 3 quarters to figure out how to penetrate Krieger's Fort Kick-Ass. SMOKE BOMB!by tretiak - Other Sports

Re: New recruit - 11 years ago
The jump from prep school to D1 is made a lot less rarely today than it was 20, 30, or 40 years ago. That's because the growth of hockey across the US has led to diversity of playing options and increasing age of D1 hockey players. New England prep hockey is a distant second to MN in terms skill, but it still produces a significant number of D1 and NHL players. Hockey East and some Ivies recrby tretiak - Hockey
Re: New recruit - 11 years ago
With few exceptions (e.g. MN high school hockey), you need to exceed in junior hockey to make it in D-1 hockey. BC is tied for third in pairwise with 9 prep hockey players on the roster. Junior puts more focus on hockey, but it's not the only path to D1 or even the NHL.by tretiak - Hockey

Re: Cornell 3 Michigan 2 post game - 12 years ago
FUCK and YES! Amazing finish to an amazing game. Aside from the first two minutes and penalties, I felt Cornell forced their game on Michigan. Hey eLynah, WHICH TEAM IS THE WINNING TEAM?!by tretiak - Hockey

Re: NCAA Lacrosse Quarterfinals vs UVA - 12 years ago
For those still wondering, it's "Virginia rah rah Cornell". Just a simple cheer at the end of the game to recognize the opponent. Nothing to see here, folks.by tretiak - Other Sports
Re: CU-SU Lacrosse Tonight - 13 years ago
I agree with bill that they tried and then went back to being homers. Three things that annoyed me: 1. Unreasonable analysis is calling Cornell lucky To the announcers, Fiore's good saves were due to luck. On the other hand, Galloway was a great goalie making great saves. Just give credit to both goalies. 2. Saying that a top 5 team currently kicking your team's ass is "great"by tretiak - Other Sports
Re: CU-SU Lacrosse Tonight - 13 years ago
11-6 final. Huge win. Loud overrated chant heard in the Dome. Someone please put the Syracuse announcers on suicide watch.by tretiak - Other Sports
Re: CU-SU Lacrosse Tonight - 13 years ago
We might be playing too cautiously. Agreed. This is the worst quarter Cornell's played tonight. 10-6 4:30 left.by tretiak - Other Sports
Re: CU-SU Lacrosse Tonight - 13 years ago
About what? Refs, etc or SU's play? SU's play - just blatant Syracuse homerism. Every time Cornell scores it sounds like Cornell collectively kicked their dog. 10-5 11:45 leftby tretiak - Other Sports

Re: Cornell 4 - SLU 3 (ot) - 13 years ago
Doesn't mean it hasn't happened, and it doesn't even mean I've never seen one before last weekend, but I can't think of an example from college hockey. Sawada got a 5 minute boarding penalty without a game misconduct in the second game of the ECAC QFs against Quinnipiac on March 10, 2007. Couldn't find a box score. Hopefully someone else can.by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 Princeton 1 Etobicoke 1 (final--overtime) - 13 years ago
Equally brain dead, pal. So you're saying a "real deal" goalie never lets one in he shouldn't have? Really? Your namesake did. Get some sense. And next time show up for the first fifty minutes. Forgive me for living on the West Coast and having to work on a Saturday, Al. Will the Lynah Faithful please forgive me for missing part of a November game? THE HORROR! Thanks for adding nby tretiak - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 Princeton 1 Etobicoke 1 (final--overtime) - 13 years ago
Totally agree. He's a freshman after all. Do you (tretiak) remember Scrivens back then? I certainly do and I shuttered every time he tried to skate and shoot the puck. It's just incredible what people will say just to be able to put someone down. I remember Scrivens as a freshman and he was far from a "real deal" goaltender. He had to mature; just like Iles needs to. Iles has potentby tretiak - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 Princeton 1 Etobicoke 1 (final--overtime) - 13 years ago
Brain dead response, I regret to say. I caught the last ten minutes of the third and OT. The only brain dead response I saw was Iles not having his stick down on the GWG. I regret to say that a "real deal goalie" makes that save. Scrivens would.by tretiak - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 Princeton 1 Etobicoke 1 (final--overtime) - 13 years ago

Re: UNH 6 Cornell 2 postgame - 14 years ago
I don't think there are many situations where the goalie is looking through the net. They're usually looking around it. It happens. Anytime a player behind the net has the puck you need to look through the net. If you look around the net, you're off balance and you open yourself up to a wrap-around or a quick back-door play at the other post. Also, if you're going post-to-post as the puck isby tretiak - Hockey
