Re: Opponents News - 7 years ago
Trotsky IIRC a few years ago one of the directional Michigan U's, or perhaps UNO, tried to play most or all of the third period with the G pulled in a game they were far behind. It didn't work, although the damage wasn't too bad -- like 2 goals per side or something of that nature. IMO you pull the goalie with as many mins left as you are behind. 2015 NCAA Tournament - Miami was down 6-2 to Pby jkahn - Hockey

Beeeej jkahn upprdeck I take the perspective that there is no outcome of that game that doesnt help us in some way. its really unclear which one helps us the most. my head says a harvard win does, since we still play union again, but my heart has a hard time with that thought. ithacat ursusminor Tri-City Storm '97 C Alex Limoges de-commited from Cornell, receiving Hockey East interest. 13-15-28 line in 33 USHL GP this year.— Jeff Cox (@JeffCoxSports) January 29, 2017 Big loss. Limoges was the cornerstone of the class. Never really understood his commitment as I don't see the point in skilled forwards coming to Cornell as long as Mike is in charge...still,by jkahn - Hockey

Trotsky Weder So Ken Dryden had a pretty busy weekend. It's pretty friggin' cool that Dryden and Nieuwy were included in the NHL Top 100 All-time list. About time we got our defenseman. Re: St. Lawrence 2 vs. Cornell 3 1/21/17 - 7 years ago
Hooking Unforced penalties are a symptom of poor discipline. Cornell Penalty minutes = 231 Opponent Penalty minutes = 254 Therefore, given your statement above, we are: a) more disciplined than our opponents or b) better at forcing our opponents into committing penalties or c) both a) and b)by jkahn - Hockey

upprdeck I think it is.. you have to go back 10+ years to find a ECAC team that was a top 8 seed that didnt play in the east or NE bracket. Pretty good odds no ECAC team is a top 4 seed and that we dont have 3 ECAC teams in the top 8.. I didnt find any instance of the top ECAC team not playing in the east/NE going back that far. But just going back a little further: 2006 #8 Cornell in Greby jkahn - Hockey
Re: 2016-17 Schedule - 7 years ago
wakester2468 While this season thus far is a pleasant surprise, it's always fun to look to the future to speculate who will be on the schedule next year. My guess is BU will return to the Garden but the two year cycle with Merrimack and Miami is completed. We have not done the return visit to Miami, so I suspect there'd be a two game series there next season.by jkahn - Hockey

Al DeFlorio Swampy I thought Butch graduated from IEOR. Could be. Cornell alumni directory shows BSENGR '68 but MEE '69. Still, not many engineers of any flavor today. Butch was an Enginering Physics major. He was my dorm counselor (are they call RA's now?) the second semester of my freshman year.by jkahn - Hockey

Trotsky Jim Hyla After resetting my Watched Teams on my CHN App (I reset them each day so that I get updates on each ECAC game.), an interesting stat for tonight showed up. Each of the top 6 teams is playing a bottom 6 team. I wonder how often that's happened? .5 ^ 5, I think. (i.e., once every 32 times all 12 teams play, or very roughly about once every 2 years). Re: Giles Threadgold Dies - 7 years ago
Giles was a fan favorite at Lynah because we knew we'd get a well-refereed game. With two refs and no linesmen, you needed a ref who really hustled and was in position to make offside calls and still be seeing everything else. His trademark move when the puck came whistling along the boards was to jump up on the dasher and hold on to the top of the glass to get out of the way. And if Ozzie Ricby jkahn - Hockey

David Harding For those unfamiliar with the organization, as I was, here's the Wikipedia link to HC Kunlun Red Star, where Sean Collins is placed by the IJ story. As of today, he is listed on the roster by the Wikipedia article. He is not listed on the roster for the teams first game ever last month. The KHL web site does not have the Red Star players listed today, but is set up to do so. Hereby jkahn - Hockey

Trotsky nshapiro I am ok with the shootout, but the effect should be de-emphasized, especially the creation of the extra point in the standings. Each game should be worth 5 points - 5 - regulation win 4 - overtime win 3 - shootout win 2 - shootout loss 1 - overtime loss 0 - regulation loss No. No, no, no, no, no. billhoward BeeeejAnybody remember how old Dick Bertrand was when he was tri-captain for the 1969-70 undefeated team? Pretty sure he was 28. Goose, gander, pot, kettle, whatever. Dick Bertrand '70 was 29 by the time he was named coach that spring. He had to sit out the NCAAs because at that time the NCAA didn't allow older international players to compete (in the NCAAs) past a certain age. (Even-oby jkahn - Hockey

Swampy jkahn Matthew Cairns is ranked 86th of all draft-eligible North American skaters and Kyle Betts is 147th in Central Scouting's final rankings. BU has 3 of the top 10 and 4 of the top 18. And BC gets #110, 141, 156, 166, 190, and the #5 goaltender. What's the matter with these kids? Don't they know the ECAC is now the dominant eastern league? Speaking of the ECAC, Sucks picks up #50by jkahn - Hockey
