Re: Bracketology Starts - 6 years ago
Beeeej BearLover The best matchup we could get per the pairwise was Michigan Tech. There's nothing in the pairwise that says the 2nd-best team getting the 14th-best team is any more unjust than the 3rd-best team getting the 13th-best team. Sure there is. It's called finishing in 2nd, which is slightly higher than 3rd, and gets slightly better treatment. The only way you can justify giving us MTby jkahn - Hockey

Trotsky Riles seems to have really picked it up. Is he a fan favorite? Is he being given a higher profile and more TOI? With Patrice Bergeron injured, Riley is now centering a line with David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand. So, for the moment, he's the 1st line center.by jkahn - Hockey

Trotsky Iceberg Yale winning that year is a testament to the fact that no one's really out of the running in the NCAA's. IIRC Yale had only gotten in because the result of the final CCHA game went in their favor.I remember listening to the Yale announcers' post-mortem when they assumed they were eliminated. They were quite harsh on the team essentially saying they'd blown it. Then IIRC Michiganby jkahn - Hockey

adamw KGR11My big problem with playoffstatus is that their methodology isn't clear. How can I agree or disagree without knowing how they did it? IIRC, CHN does a Monte Carlo analysis based on KRACH. I'm on board with that. That is correct. I take the two KRACH values, and just use a random number generator to get the winner for that game, and every game. Then run it around 50,000 times, or aby jkahn - Hockey

Jeff Kubiak and Mitch Gillam are playing for the Worcester Railers, coached by former Cornell assistant coach Jamie Russell. Mitch has played two games, a shutout and a 5-1 loss. Jeff picked up his first fighting penalty and a game misconduct in that 5-1 loss, and has one assist in 3 games. Game stories:by jkahn - Hockey

adamw BearLover I don't know enough about the model/KRACH/etc. to say anything especially productive, but I will say that, as a casual observer, the 98% number, the 91% number from a different model, and the 85% number from the Matrix before the RPI game all failed the eye test. Iceberg At least we're getting some help tonight with UNH pulling out the win among other things. To me that was a definite negative. We want either BU or UML to win Hockey East. If the 4 Hockey East quarters all go the same way as Friday's games, 3 of the 4 semi-finalists would be teams that jump ahead of us if the win they tournament - and even BC might do that if they get to the finals (obby jkahn - Hockey
