Discussions about sports other than hockey
Re: College Hockey All-Star Game - 22 years ago
and the scouts come in droves. Just what is a "drove"? I believe it's a small container lined with spermicide. Beeeej P.S. I love Schedule III drugs!!by Beeeej - Hockey
Vicodin Is Your Friend - 22 years ago
You just know your surgery's going to go well when the anaesthesiologist is wheeling your stretcher down the hall to the OR, and in the course of your conversation you discover that he's Cornell class of '89 and a huge hockey fan, and brings his wife up to Ithaca for a game every year (he was at the 3-2 win over Yale a few weeks ago). We talked about Nieuwendyk until I fell asleep. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Titles - 22 years ago
I can't imagine why they'd start now if they never put up banners for the first four RS titles we won. And John - none of the banners are more than five years old. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: cornell's olympic showing (pat-pat) - 22 years ago
We seem to have this discussion on a twice-yearly basis, and the same people always express the same recollections. As of the last time I checked, about a year ago, Joe had not completed his degree. It's possible but unlikely that he's done it since. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Titles - 22 years ago
This sentiment is reflected quite aptly in the banners hanging from Lynah's rafters. Plenty of Ivy Championship banners - not a single ECAC Regular Season Title banner. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Pair of RPI and Union tix available - 22 years ago
One pair of tickets for Cornell vs. RPI, and one pair of tickets for Cornell vs. Union, this coming weekend. I'm unable to use them for medical reasons, so I'd be grateful if folks planning to buy tickets at the rinks would buy these instead to do me a favor. Please contact <mac38@cornell.edu> if interested. Thanks! Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: LGT LGT LGT - 22 years ago
I thought Morris was more notorious for switching goalies than he was for pulling them for the extra skater. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Offtopic: Olympics - 22 years ago
I will make her a deal, though. She can have the gold this time (now that Sarah's out of it) Heeheeheeheeheeheeheeheehee...!!! Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Everything But Anchovies - 22 years ago
Take a handful of corn niblets, mix 'em together with a little water and cornstarch, and you'll have something similar to "creamed corn." Now make a little ball of about 7 or 8 niblets, dip the ball in batter, and deep fry it. That's a corn nugget. The pizza's still very good, but the white russians and Irish wakes are a little inconsistent from visit to visit. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: clarkson tix? - 22 years ago
Mike - the only advice I can offer at this late stage is to park yourself outside the Fieldhouse (excuse me, Bartels Hall) at 5:30pm and ask everybody who passes by if they have a pair you can buy. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Everything But Anchovies - 22 years ago
I trust it as much as I trust any other restaurant. Chinese food is hardly alone in its use of obscure and potentially troubling ingredients. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: if we win.... - 22 years ago
I prefer not to jinx it by planning a venue. If we win, stick around after the game, a group of us often hangs back to make plans in Section C near Press Row. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: SLU(t) bulletin board fodder - 22 years ago
If there's no doubt, why are they in a tie for 9th place with Princeton? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Barry Melrose - 22 years ago
I have exactly one comment to make about Barry Melrose: "Say, have we mentioned yet that St. Lawrence is a small school?" Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: goaltending possibilities - 22 years ago
At the risk of a little self-aggrandizing, I thought folks might enjoy this (it's in context, I promise): October 25, 2000 The Top 6 Excuses Given by Patrick Roy for Ripping Two Doors Off Their Hinges and Threatening His Wife 6> "Her foot was in the crease!" 5> Heard her chanting "Eddie, Eddie!" in her sleep. 4> Overabundance oby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: goaltending possibilities - 22 years ago
Yeah, and "Anbinder" should be pronounced /ahn-BIHN-der/ instead of /AN-bine-der/, but it ain't. Far as I know, Arthur and Grady go by what the players tell the coaches. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Just make sure you bring enough for the whole class, young lady. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Everything But Anchovies - 22 years ago
Favorite place to eat on a roadtrip, hands down: Plum Blossom on route 7 just outside of Troy, on the RPI/Union trip. Incredibly good Chinese food for comparatively so little money it makes me laugh out loud. Ha ha!! Usual place to eat on a home hockey weekend: Chariot. The baskets of corn nuggets are getting smaller, but hey, at least the price is increasing... Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

And then endowing the Cornell hockey program, right, Rich? ) Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: goaltending possibilities - 22 years ago
I usually try to make a habit of not correcting people's spelling around here (especially because I then usually make an error of my own that people gleefully point out), but it's LeNeveu. It's pronounced /LEH-ne-vyoo/, so your spelling is intuitive, but not correct. Just preparing y'all for three more years of spelling his name properly as we talk about his dominating goaltending performances.by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Everything But Anchovies - 22 years ago
A gift certificate for two of those Pinesburgers was the only prize I've ever won in the Cornell Hockey Association 50-50 drawing. I want the jackpot, dammit!! Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Louie's Lunch - 22 years ago
1. Anybody who frequented both Louie's and the Hot Truck knew that Louie's was simply a normal lunch truck, while the Hot Truck had a mystique, almost a suspense. Sure, you could get decent, greasy food at Louie's (and their shakes were fabulous), but you couldn't make fun of freshmen for not knowing how to order, there were no dictionaries, the person serving you didn't care who you were or whby Beeeej - Hockey
