Re: CU-HA+RVA+RD Thoughts - 21 years ago
Hey, Jim, one of the mini-peanut butter cups you threw right before the third period last night smacked me in the side of the head and landed in my cup of apple cider, splashing several people around me. Nice toss. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: forgotten cheer - 21 years ago
I can't remember any quick goals off the faceoff in the time I sat in B. The closest thing I can remember to a goal off of the face off was Kozier's overtime goal in game one of the Princeton QF in '01. But I think that might have been on a faceoff from the other side... The most beautiful goal off a faceoff that I've ever seen at Lynah was from a face-off on the student side. Nov. 8, 1997, wby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hospitality - 21 years ago
I win - 3 D's and an F even. (The F was in grad school no less.) John, are you freakin' high?! He gets a few Ds and an F and he thinks he's gotten bad grades. These kids, I tellya...!! Five Fs. Count 'em. Five. Beeeej P.S. They damn well better not create a bottleneck getting into the game tomorrow, 'cause I think I might be pulling up at 6:52 and making a dash for it. [OT] Yale Women's Hockey - 21 years ago
There was a pretty small turnout for tonight's student phonathon at Cardozo Law School - it was the last of the fall, so we were a bit burnt out calling alumni to ask for gifts. (Yes, I'm still fundraising.) So it was just me and one other person - who turns out to have played hockey at Yale, Joni Kletter '00. She was leading point scorer her sophomore year, then quit to have a social life. Iby Beeeej - Hockey

Any other year I'd be seriously considering it, but it's right before final exams start. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
A smarmy comment re: trademark protection - 21 years ago
Do you suppose has permission to use the Cornell Athletics bear logo? By the way, Adam, great piece - and really nice to see it up on USCHO so quickly after the game. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Final HockeyCam Letter - 21 years ago
Could folks please e-mail John to let him know they're in as co-signers as he requested, rather than posting that here? Thanks. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Where the hell is this week's ECAC preview?! Looking forward to listening to the Vermont game via wireless DSL tomorrow. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Don't tell me you're claiming Ben '03 made a deathbed statement. ) See you Saturday! Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Thanksgiving weekend tickets idea - 21 years ago
With Age's permission, I sent a letter to the editor of the Cornell Daily Sun suggesting that students should use eLF's Ticket Exchange as a forum for getting rid of the BU tickets they'd be unable to use, thus allowing other interested parties to fill in the inevitable gaps. But they haven't printed the letter, and I assume they're not planning to do so. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Harvard(sucks) @ Lynah - 21 years ago
That was sort of the intended gist of my "independent source" question, BRA. But remember, I'm in law school now - so I need to see evidence and refutation. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Harvard(sucks) @ Lynah - 21 years ago
No word of this that I can find on USCHO or elsewhere...does anybody have a report or an independent source on this? I find it difficult to believe, even though I never would have predicted a lot of what's already happened in this young season. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Yale/Princeton thoughts - 21 years ago
Hey, at least Dell didn't let Patton score with his helmet off, like that ass from Miami (Ohio) in '96-97. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Section G - 21 years ago
The Hahvahd game at home was in February that season, and by that point I'd already seen the student Faithful standing until the first goal several times since my first game in Nov. '87. Whether that's the first time we stood the entire game, I couldn't tell you - though I will say that I don't specifically recall having stood the entire game until at least a year or two later. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Section G - 21 years ago
Beeeej, I didn't know that standing the whole game was a relatively new tradition, but it's one I'd like to keep. It's also a better incarnation of that basketball-esque idea of until the first score. Half of my recollection of this shift in the tradition was very much like Robb's - that there had been an inordinate number of home shutouts over the course of a couple of dismal seasons. But a quby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: At Dartmouth Tickets - 21 years ago
Princeton actually does sell out; the question is usually more along the lines of whether the ticket-holders actually show up. So there may be empty seats, but no tickets to be had. Try to buy in advance through Cornell. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Section G - 21 years ago
And it wasn't even all that long ago that the tradition was not to stand for the whole game, but to stand only until Cornell scored their first goal - at which point the Faithful were generally pretty glad to get to sit down. So while it's pretty frustrating that the cops would enforce their will so selectively and abusively, the "fighting for tradition" argument doesn't hold a lot of wby Beeeej - Hockey

Why don't you bookmark the page Jason set up? There's no reason to make the rest of us believe something else useful has been said here just to keep the list convenient. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

They all go to the same Ivy League school. A school which has nothing to do with the newspaper or putting it on the web. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: [Off-Topic] "Sports Night" reference on Oct 30 "West Wing" - 21 years ago
Nina Siemaszko, who I remember best as Ellie Bartlet on one episode of The West Wing, but also had roles in The American President and Sports Night. Bingo. She was Beth Wade (Sidney Ellen Wade's sister) in "The American President," and Holly, Casey's nanny, in "Sports Night." Give that man a porn e-newsletter subscription! Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: copyrights - 21 years ago
Trademarked. Both of 'em. Believe me, everywhere your mind is taking you to think of how to get around this issue, the University Relations people have almost certainly been there first. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Andy Noel - 21 years ago
I think the guy who ran the Lanes and taught bowling classes my first few years at Cornell was named Sam Partigiani (I'm sure about the "Sam" part), and he was also fantastic. He was funny, loved the students, and really cared about what he was doing. I managed to get up to a pretty consistent 210 my second semester of bowling before - as apparently others have done before and since -by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: [Off-Topic] "Sports Night" reference on Oct 30 "West Wing" - 21 years ago
Far more likely is that Josh Malina's character, Will Bailey, will replace Sam. Josh is one of Sorkin's favorite actors - he's the only one to have had a speaking role in all five of Sorkin's major successes, "Malice," "The American President," "A Few Good Men," "Sports Night," and "The West Wing." Assume that I know how to write a disclaimer that sufficiently informs you that I'm only offering my opinion and you shouldn't construe it as legal advice, and that I put such a disclaimer right here. Okay, good. Re: Surprised it took them so long... - 21 years ago
They're required to attempt to enforce their trademark in every instance in which they know about the potential infringement. I'm sure you must be able to comprehend that a trademark holder can't be expected to enforce ownership of a mark when they don't know it's being used.
