Re: Bye bye Bliss - 5 years ago
RichH Jeff Hopkins '82 Seems a shame, but I suppose the team had moved on. Good luck to him, wherever he ends up. This is a weird and disturbing twist to what seems like a saga: UMass is adding Ryan Bliss to the roster. Former NTDP defenseman who left Cornell in 2016. Played on Team USA's Youth Olympic team with Eichel, Ryan MacInnis, Nick Schmaltz, Shane Gersich & others in 2012.by Beeeej - Hockey

Swampy CAS Donahue is an excellent coach. Look how Cornell has fared after his departure. Bill Courtney went 60-113 during his 6 unsuccessful years. Brian Earl is 24-41 so far. Absolutely. Even with the team he had, you don't get the likes of Dick Vitale saying, "Cornell put on a clinic against Wisconsin" without excellent coaching. His coaching and his philosophy of how the teamby Beeeej - Other Sports

upprdeck getting any kind of support for espn issues is always a problem.. i used to have some direct support phone numbers back when getting TV to work was always an issue.. wish they still worked.. On the plus side, after waiting 32 minutes on hold, I finally got through to a live person who put me on another brief hold, then returned and told me ESPN+ was down. (!!) We should wait until theby Beeeej - Hockey

Finally got @ESPNFanSupport - who is in a different department from ESPN+ and claimed not to be able to help - to pick up a &#$%ing phone and contact ESPN+, who is now aware of the problem and working toward a resolution.by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Harvard at MSG - 5 years ago
BearLover Beeeej BearLover We limited the chances of a good offensive team by keeping them to the outside, getting in passing/shooting lanes, etc. Harvard had few Grade-A chances. They cycled better along the wall, they undressed us passing around our net and setting up trailers, we gave up eight two-on-one rushes then screwed up even the standard last-ditch two-on-one defense on two of them,by Beeeej - Hockey

Cornell takes a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. We've apparently missed two Cornell PP goals, which is awesome, but hey, how about this great ESPN+ service?by Beeeej - Hockey

Larry72 Same here. Firs period was fine except for having to listen to their announcers. Did you know we got the newspaper-reading thing from the hit film "Mystery, Alaska"? Nope, I didn't know that, either.by Beeeej - Hockey

Tweeted at @ESPNFANSUPPORT; we'll see what happens, if anything. Also tried the "Chat" option on ESPN's customer service page but it's been several minutes and hasn't connected me to an agent. This was the service that's much, much better than ILDN, right?by Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Cornell-Harvard at MSG - 5 years ago
BearLover There wasn't much difference between the Princeton game and this one, IMO. In both we played well on defense, showed little cohesion on offense, and Galajda was solid in net. The difference last night was that Harvard is more talented and Cornell made two inexcusable mental errors. I would like to see our success the past two seasons translate to an uptick in recruiting, especiallyby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Harvard at MSG - 5 years ago
ugarte If you thought they were good in the offensive end I don't know what you were watching. What I saw was a lot of guys who thought they could skate through traffic or thread needles with passes and kept turning the puck over and wasting the chances they had. I also saw wide open guys in space get the puck passed firmly into their skates or into nothing or blindly to a guy in crimson. Absolutby Beeeej - Hockey

billhoward What are the odds the streak continues? Is this like the Polish cavalry charging German tanks in 1939? In text, Cornell puts the streak in perspective: "Cornell's modest three-game road streak is the longest since 2012-13." Good luck, Cornell. Final 91-74, 2 points shy of losing by an almost-reasonable 25. The line was Cornell + 15 (to make the score even). 17 points isby Beeeej - Other Sports
Re: 2018-11-17: Cornell vs Princeton - 5 years ago
upprdeck this team at a times has dominated, tonight they got goals for it. get healthy and they have a chance to be really solid if they dont gift away goals. Flip the Quinnipiac result and we're #11 in PWR, instead of #24.by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: 2018-11-09: Cornell 3 Northern Michigan 1 - 5 years ago
Al DeFlorio Trotsky Jim Hyla Ned & Anne Dykes went. I bought 2 tickets & a room, but didn't go because my wife's knee surgery had complications. 12 hours from Syracuse, not bad.Hope your wife is better soon, Jim. Yes, for sure. Hoping to see her at Harvard in three weeks. Give her our best, Jim. Ditto, sans the Harvard part.by Beeeej - Hockey

Dafatone This appears to be the radio station that Northern Michigan sports plays on: Anyone know if WHCU will be carrying the game? I'd guess not, but I have no idea, really. Yes.by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Why does Cornell football have such little success? - 5 years ago
Al DeFlorio Swampy CAS Columbia went 8-2 last year. They turned it around by devoting greater resources to the program & hiring an outstanding coach. But in part my point is that Cornell has had outstanding coaches and still lost (cf. e.g., Seifert's record). I don't know what resources they were given, but presumably someone like Blackman would bargain for the resources he needed before hby Beeeej - Other Sports

Re: Opponents News 2: Hockey's the Reason for the Season - 6 years ago
Trotsky BeeeejThen again, this sort of thing happens occasionally - maybe not all three goalies, but I recall at least one occasion (perhaps when Pelletier left?) when Cornell had to scramble after the usual recruiting season to put a credible backup goalie on the bench quickly, and it didn't turn out all that badly. The Bad Time was 1993. Parris Duffus left early after 1992. That left us witby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Opponents News 2: Hockey's the Reason for the Season - 6 years ago
Jim Hyla coz Colton Point left toothpaste so that should those games a bit easier next year. Importantly who will be their goalie? Their other 2 from last year were seniors and I couldn't quickly find a new recruit list for them. CHN's recruit list for 2019 doesn't list a goalie. Unless one of the seniors was getting a fifth year, I have to assume they have at least 1 goalie coming in.by Beeeej - Hockey

Jim Hyla Rules Committee Recommends Abolishing Shootouts in League Play, but Still Needs Final NCAA Approval. And I like the USCHO headline better. NCAA approves standardized overtime format for regular-season games, in-season tournaments for ’18-19 season. I love it! Trotsky ugarte I don't care at all if my son goes to CornellIf your son is going in the first round of the draft you damn well better care. We know where you live.
