Huh. Not how I expected this to end. I assumed we would get one David Wright shift and a retirement.

Solid player. Tough injury.

Seems a shame, but I suppose the team had moved on.

Good luck to him, wherever he ends up.

...not least given that his Twitter account - which UMass references directly in their tweet - is still quite obviously a paean to Cornell.

But this part of the post makes it sound like he was planning on transferring some time ago.

Bliss has 1-1/2 seasons of eligibility remaining, so he'll be able to play for UMass next season as well. He was out with an injury after leaving Cornell, which delayed his transfer.

CHN's brief article.

Not that it sheds any new light.

Just win and make him regret his decision.

the article says he's a grad transfer so maybe he was using his injury time to take more credits here in order to finish up his undergrad degree then starting his academic program a semester early at UMass.

Not according to the box score. I doubt he'll see any ice time this season. It sounds like he's pretty far from returning to the ice, at least at the level necessary to be a productive D-I player. See the UMass coach's comments here:

If you're 60+, you see the "Bye bye Bliss" subject line and think this is about something else happening to Cornell basketball player Dave Bliss '65 MBA '68, who's coached at a half-dozen colleges (including assistant at Cornell), amasssed 500+ D1 wins, had some close calls with the NCAA rulebook (putting it nicely), was coach at Baylor in the early 2000s when a player shot and killed another player. In the last 5 years, Bliss was coaching high school, charter school and bible college teams. Bob Knight said Bliss had one of the best minds in basketball, pretty good considering Bliss and Mike Krzyzewski both were assistants to Knight at Army.

And if you're in your 30s, you think of the prequel to Saved By The Bell that was set in Indiana.

Wasn't he the one who put the dagger in the heart of the Bill-Bradley-led Princeton Tigers in Barton Hall?

No, that was Blaine Aston '67. Great game - a Barton Hall sellout.
