Re: Harvard Hockey - Trouble in Paradise? - 15 years ago
Rich SSwampykaelistusHere in Boston, I've certainly heard of Clarkson professionally. In my experience it has a pretty good reputation, and the Clarkson software engineer's I've worked with have all been excellent. Harvard software engineers, however, have not. So there. Sorry, this post is an error. Of course it's an error. It doesn't slam Clarkson's hockey team or its academics and graby Dpperk29 - Hockey
Re: Harvard Hockey - Trouble in Paradise? - 15 years ago
KeithK On a serious note, my company in the SF Bay Area is loaded with engineers from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Has anyone ever heard fo this school in the northeast? I certainly hadn't. But it's well known as a decent engineering school in California. I'm sure Clarkson has the same regional status in the NE like Dpperk29 says. That makes me think of another reason as to why cornell (and othby Dpperk29 - Hockey
Re: Harvard Hockey - Trouble in Paradise? - 15 years ago
BMacAlthough I'm a current Cornell engineering grad student and BS alum, I must say: I have no qualification whatsoever to judge Clarkson's academic merit. That is, other than that I'm an engineering grad student and I have never ever heard of Clarkson other than regarding hockey. Also, I have been applying to top firms and always read the list of schools they recruit in- we're usually on it,by Dpperk29 - Hockey

ugarteSwampyWell, the list actually goes up to 55 (Drek Tech -- now that will start a war), but my Firefox browser must be broken. When I search for Clarkson, nothing comes up. You will find them, however, on the unranked recommended programs page. Unless it is your sincere belief that Clarkson is a mediocre school - and I think you are merely engaging in RichS baiting* - please cut this out.by Dpperk29 - Hockey
Re: INCH: ECAC Hockey Season Preview - 15 years ago
ugarte"Who the #^&% is Shea Guthrie?" he is possibly the best, or at least one of the best skaters in the ECAC. he also has a knack for scoring rather clutch goals. all that being said he tends to try and do to much by himself and after making 5 great moves to beat defenders, finds himself in the corner or behind the goal line with no shot...by Dpperk29 - Hockey
Re: Preseason Polls/Teams - 15 years ago
amerks127Dpperk29he is a solid goalie, but his "Kamikaze" style can be exploited by good shooters/passers. I think you are making this assumption more on Scrivens' freshman playing days. He was much more inclined to stay between the posts last season. Granted he played poorly against BU and Clarkson, next to Joe Scali and Chris Fontas, I thought Scrivens was the most improved. Re: Preseason Polls/Teams - 15 years ago
ithacatDpperk29something tells me Scrivens got on the preseason team due to overall lack of proven talent, not his own immense talent. but preseason polls mean nothing. The fact that he ranked number 1 in both goals against average and save % last season might have had something to do with it. He Did? wow I didn't realize that. Re: Athletics Announces Hockey Line Procedure - 15 years ago
It is this time of year that I remember how much I love being issued my hockey tickets (it also serves other trivial tasks such as allowing me to eat and get into buildings) on my first day on campus at clarkson. that being said... cornell couldn't get away with letting everyone in for free.by Dpperk29 - Hockey

Of course, by the third period it would pretty much be a continuous cheer. I would feel bad about saying "We Want More" though after about 60. Unless it was against Harvard. polarJust from personal experience (saw both sides of the series this year), the rivalry against Clarkson seems to have more life to it. But somehow a rivalry with an ivy league leader sounds sexier than one with an almost-Canadian former tech school. you'd be surprised how far away Canada is from Potsdam with the way they are at the Border now. Rita It will be interesting to see who the Sharks hire as the new coach and if Murray will still fit in with the Sharks organization. I think Murray will be a constant in the San Jose organization for awhile. no matter how fast the game gets, a team will always need big, physical defense men. CM cWo 44Portland's first goal was just - - - - luck. It was a seeing eye shot from the half-boards about 3/4 high on the circle. I think Jessiman was screening LeNeveu.
