Trotsky4-zero, the end. Oh, and "Hail to the Victors" sucks. Among fight songs several thousand times better: Notre Dame, USC, and even Harvard. Any fight song that annoys the crap out of the otehr side has to be good by definition. Then again, I went to MIchigan too. Besides think about it. Re: NCAAs on TV - 15 years ago
RichH And how do you think UConn basketball fans around here (Hartford) react when they're on ESPNU and Comcast subscribers can't get it, even though ESPN is literally right down the road? They go apeshit, there's a lot of writing and handwringing in the Courant, and then someone relents and lets it go on the PBS channel. Unfortunately I don't think Northeastern will manage to be able to pryby abmarks - Hockey

RichHabmarksPardon me for not wanting to cram into an overstuffed room. I might get stuck with the option, but it's not MY personal preference. Hey, remember the days when the only way we could follow this round of the NCAAs were awful internet audio feeds that maybe worked half the time? Just sayin'. RichHh No, he's in training to be as curmudgeony as Al. Let the man rant. Who needs training? I can curmudgeon with the best of them. Here's the dumb part. Only reason I don't get ESPNU On comcast is because comcast doesnt want to "pass a ratre increase on" to general tier customers. Yet I subsidiz 27 cooking channels, shows that glorify the people woth 18 kids on TLC, Lifetimby abmarks - Hockey

DeltaOne81abmarks p.p.s Is there a viewing spot for Saturday in Boston if I want to deal with a crowdied bleepin sports bar and all the basketball asses and standing for 4 hours? Typically its Sports Depot for which the Cornell crowd typically has: a) gotten their own room, b) with only people watching hockey, c) with seats Maybe you should know something about it before you bash it. Re: NCAAs on TV - 15 years ago
RichHabmarksIs there a B2 stream for tomorrow? No. Get thee to a sports bar or find a friend with DirecTV. I hate Directv even more than comcast. I'll never give them a penny again. Nor take advantage of them showing this. (I won't go through the hell they put me through customerservice (not service) wise for years. That's why I have comcast now. I gotta blame ESPN also as they areby abmarks - Hockey

Re: NCAAs on TV - 15 years ago
FFFFFFFFFFFF MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I grew up going to UVM games. Obviousy CU undergrad Went to Michigan for grad school. All those games are on ESPNU. And i Have goddamn comcast which has been fighting with ESPN for 4 years now over carrying the station. Then, even the espn360.com feed isn't carrying espnu content. Re: Northeastern - 15 years ago
Brian Deerr '04Based on the other options, I think it's a pretty good first-round draw for us. It seems more likely that we'll be able to get them to play our style (which probably isn't terribly far from their style) than trying to slow down a team like Yale. First team to three goals might be the winner here... I think you are right and it's not to our advantage. If their style is our stylby abmarks - Hockey
Re: ECAC Final: Cornell 0 Yale 3 (3rd) - 15 years ago
scoop85 That being said, the biggest difference between these teams is that Yale has more finishing ability and their offensive zone passing is better. Will someone please put this on Coach's desk next to his recruiting folder? plz? I'm gonna keep bashing away at this oneby abmarks - Hockey

Re: ECAC Final: Cornell 0 Yale 5 (3rd) - 15 years ago
Staring at the end of the B2 cast looking at the stats. We outshot them, won 2x more facoffs, had more PP minutes and more hits. Yale scored on a lot fewer shots. Obviously they set themselves up to bury the puck, and we........ well see above...we don't have their offensive skill obviously. We win one game in the tourney if we are extremely lucky and learb how to execute a PP before thby abmarks - Hockey
Re: ECAC Final: Cornell 0 Yale 4 (3rd) - 15 years ago
ansky629Absolutely - don't see much jump in the team tonight. But I'm not sure that's why we're getting destroyed. I think Yale just has our number this year. Because Yales skill advantage on offense is just that much greater. Those backdoorgoals were all sweet tick tack toes... and they really moved the puck well even when they didn't finish. Another example where if we aren't razor-sharby abmarks - Hockey
Re: ECAC on TV - 15 years ago
SperrisJust looked on Comcast's listings for tomorrow and the game is not on, also checked the NHL Network and not listed there. Sometimes Comcast will put a game on channel 8 if they have no other spot for it... but in this case I think we are out of luck in Boston. Bummer. THere is no love ever for ECAC in Boston-- try even getting the scores in the globe unless it's the harvard score. Weby abmarks - Hockey

CowbellGuyIt was Kotyra that got the stick. Almost positive refs can't do that. I know a player can't pick up another stick and hand it off. I've seen refs and linesmen pick up sticks and hold onto them until stoppages, but I've never seen an official hand a stick to a player or goalie. THe only time they can do this is in a rec league. Re: Cornell-RPI Postgame (Game 1) 3/13/09 - 15 years ago
RobinI feel like this is becoming a theme. Multiple games in which we outshoot our competition by a significant amount, yet still lose or come close to losing(Brown), and the opposing goalie looks like he had a good game. We get a lot of shots on goal, yet can't get them in.... Which is why I was beggign for us to find some way to recruit a finisher/scorer talented guy in another thread. We'by abmarks - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 at Yale 3 (3rd period) - 15 years ago
Jim HylamartyThere are three ECAC schools that no longer have to deal with the lack of scholarships. Harvard, Yale and Princeton. And perhaps we are already seeing some of the fruits of the Yale and Princeton endowments.Agree! I was thinking about that issue, but I haven't kept up wit hwhat COrnell is doing in general in regard to financial aid. Some of those schools are saying that for antyby abmarks - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 at Yale 3 (3rd period) - 15 years ago
ugarteJim Hyla ]If you honestly think we can compete for the same talent as those schools, well I've got this bridge... ECAC schools have their obvious problems in recruiting against large scholarship schools. We'll never compete for the same players. Yes we might get one every year or so, but to compete with them for three or four each year, never. We need some highly talented players like Rilby abmarks - Hockey

TrotskyugarteSince I started watching in 1990, that has included D'Alessio, Duffus, LeNeveu and now Garman And maybe Isles. We probably won't get many blue chip scoring forwards unless other considerations are at play (Riley), but I would think Cornell would be in the running for any elite goalie, defenseman, or defensive forward. The main obstacle for them isn't the system, but admissions reby abmarks - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 at Yale 3 (3rd period) - 15 years ago
MSE09abmarks...We will NEVER compete for a national title with the system and players we are getting. At this rate we won't even win the league with any regularity since speed is gonna win out every time vs. size...the rest of the league is going back towards small/quicktalented offensively...team speed or puckhandling/shooting/offensive skills to compete...if coach doesn't change up the systemby abmarks - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Yale Postgame - 15 years ago
Ken70I had the same thought during one of our PPs: no one is creating any space. We pass the puck around but there is rarely anyone in a dangerous (to Yale) position. Maybe Mike should have the guys watch a few EPL games. Or just pop in Michigan ir Minnesota tapes. Had both their games on tonight on the tube... they ar eboth things of beauty. On Michigans PP the puck almost never stops moviby abmarks - Hockey

Re: Cornell 1 at Yale 3 (3rd period) - 15 years ago
lynah80The Cornell PP has become somewhat dependent on accurate outside shooting. They don't seem to pass to big guys like Greening or M. Kennedy inside the slot very often. I'm sure that having Greening in the slot is a big plus for the first unit, even if he doesn't touch the puck. Opponents have to content with his screens, potential deflections and rebound shots. But it seems there are soby abmarks - Hockey
