Re: Lake Placid Attendance - 10 years ago
billhoward Trotsky KeithKHotel rooms aren't that expensive if you split the cost six or eight ways. Sure, you might end up sleeping on the floor but there are worse things. It builds esprit du corps. When I was an undergrad (shakes cane) the first time we went on the Harvard trip we split a hotel room with 2 queen beds between 8 kids, a guinea pig, and a birthday cake. Trotsky Kyle RoseI have a hard time believing the culture at any of these schools is substantially different from any of the others There are differences. Stanford specifically attracts the sort of Randian fucktard who ten seconds' exposure to actual humans renders moot. Their problem is they never meet useful people, which explains their conveyerbelt to biz school. 1 in 10 might amount to sby Kyle Rose - Hockey

Trotsky If you want to hate Duke TA at Duke for a year. My best friend from HS was in the Duke doctoral program and he had to deal with those little monsters. I've never heard him say anything mean about anybody except those kids, who he was ready to drop into a crevasse. I had exactly the same reaction at Stanford. TrotskyI heard Snow's little insert statement about the team "not being able" to sign Moulson in the off-season and chalked it up to a desperate attempt to save his job with BS. Same goes with his justification for making up the picks lost in the Moulson deal in the AMac deal. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Re: Polls 2013-14 - 10 years ago
Trotsky martyYou do get points for picking Clarkson tenth rather than twelfth. This year's good prediction was that Yale would regress, which was projected from Yale's 2013 ECAC upset loss and second half drop, and the loss of their goaltending and a substantial amount of their offense. Then again, the other team that was supposed to crater by those metrics was... Colgate. Oh well. The teamby Kyle Rose - Hockey

BMacGiven that hockey coaches are famously subtle game theoreticians, perhaps it doesn't happen in reality because they've worked this out. If they haven't scored a goal in 6-5 play in a while, they'll both probably simultaneously think "We're due."by Kyle Rose - Hockey

MattS Nice period by CU. Finally one of those many chance gets buried. I'm going to rephrase this as, "That's what happens when you shoot the effing puck!" jts15 My favorite memory was in 96...I think. As we were harassing the Harvard players during warmups they started firing pucks into section B. My seat was in row 2 so I was able to duck safely below the glass. The refs saw what was going on pretty quickly and put an end to it before anyone got hurt. Of course the Faithful just got more rowdy now that we knew we were in their heads. My one puby Kyle Rose - Hockey

Re: Cornell @ Harvard 1/17/14 - 10 years ago
The second goal against was a textbook example of no-hustle. The Cornell defender (didn't see the number clearly enough) was just like, "la dee da... I'm moseying toward the puck...", completely oblivious to the forechecker gaining on him, shortly followed by a turnoverw, and a quick shot and goal.
