Re: [OT] Best sport facilities (Ivy League) - 20 years ago
Now who would that be? Unfortunately, I'm going to miss the parade. Apparently, they're going to take a picture of as many "building" family members as they can gather. My great-grandfather Dean Byron Burnett Robb has passed on, but there's a possibility that my 6-month old cousin-once-removed Byron, my father (middle name Burnett), and my Uncle Robb may be there...by Robb - Hockey
Re: Hockey trivia - 20 years ago
You can if you're an engineer instead of a scientist. Go re-read what they teach Mech E's in Heat Transfer 101: "We don't know why, but if you take the temperature difference to the 1.642 power, this happens to match some experimental data that some guy took in his garage, so that's how you design a heat exchanger..."by Robb - Hockey
Re: (OT) Pat Tillman - 20 years ago
And who knows better than Archie - the ultimate poster boy for a great player on a horrible team... The Saints were approximately 55-150-3 during his tenure (includes a couple seasons he didn't play - the only breakdown I could find was by head coach and that didn't line up totally with his career) with ZERO postseason games.by Robb - Hockey

Re: Semi #2 BC vs. Maine - 20 years ago
Yep - I'm hoping for a 9-8 Maine victory in quintuple overtime - what a great game to watch that would be...by Robb - Hockey
Re: [OT] Freshman room assignments - 20 years ago
I'll go out on a limb and guess that the process now is a bit different than for most of us old timers, since all the frosh are on North Campus now. Who knows - maybe Dickson is the party dorm now?by Robb - Hockey
Re: Parise Signs With Devils - 20 years ago
According to the posters on USCHO, drafted players (which Parise was, of course) are eligible to play in the post season, but recent free-agent signees are not.by Robb - Hockey
Re: Goaltending Recruit - 20 years ago
Let's see, behind this year's team, McKee put up 1.84/.92. With last year's team, Lenny put up 1.2/.94. Put last year's team in front of McKee (remember Murray? Bâby? Paolini?) and his numbers would have been right there. Goaltending was not this year's problem, no matter what the trolls seem to think. McKee should be getting more respect than he currently does, not less.by Robb - Hockey
Re: Game 3 Postgame thread - 20 years ago
Given that he got hurt, I'm at least glad that it happened on a clean check. Does that let me skip hell and spend a couple years in the off-season, er, I mean purgatory instead?by Robb - Hockey

Re: Leneveu signs with Phoenix? - 20 years ago
Jim - definitely kidding. If I were actually "up to something" (a la the emoticon I used), I certainly wouldn't be posting it on a public message board! Thanks for taking the opportunity to remind us all how serious that kind of thing can be, though! And, it turns out I'd have been too late anyway: So we're back to 3 goalies. Re: Ivy League Admissions Athletes - 20 years ago
Well, I guess any hockey player who can get through that formula has a leg up in calculating PWR possibilities... Not that the PWR possibilities are very hard these days, thanks to JTW!by Robb - Hockey
Re: Outdoor Hockey.... - 20 years ago
Yep - a catapult uses a spring of some kind (wound rope is pretty typical) and a trebuchet uses a counterweight. I have no idea which was developed first or which was ultimately more effective - there would definitely be benefits and detriments to both.by Robb - Hockey

Hmm - I know Dryden doesn't keep in touch with Cornell hockey all that much (at all?), but just maybe the Big Red connection would give Joe a glimmer of hope? Who knows...by Robb - Hockey
Re: season tickets for non-students - 21 years ago
Yeah - "20 year waiting list" means that there are 40 people on the list and two didn't renew their tickets this year. One down year, and all 38 of the remaining people get their tickets 19 years ahead of schedule....by Robb - Hockey
Re: season tickets for non-students - 21 years ago
I think your best bet for season tickets is through the boosters (a.k.a. the Cornell Hockey Association). They at least used to have a web site, but I can't for the life of me find it (looked for links on elynah, tbrw, uscho, cornellbigred.ocsn.com, cornell.edu, and searched with google and yahoo). Re: Jamie Russell - 21 years ago
Way to go, Jamie. Everything I've read gives him a lot of credit for Cornell's recruiting and defense over the last few seasons - tough to see him go, but definitely sounds like a well deserved honor. It will be interesting to see if he can turn MTU around - with the "big name state schools" seeming to become more and more dominant in the media, facilities, $$$, and recruiting battby Robb - Hockey

Re: 2004 frozen four - 21 years ago
Should be interesting to see if we can make top 14. Looking WAY too far ahead, let's say we: - split with WMU (they'll have some games under their belts, but both at Lynah) - beat BG and Mercyhurst (please?) - lose to OSU (assume Umberger stays for now) - beat ND, but lose the final of Everblades to Maine (doubling our win total in FL!) 4-3 OOC record - eh, not horrible, but picking up the Eveby Robb - Hockey
