Re: CSTV is instant-replay capable - 17 years ago
Chris '03There were replays towards the end of last year I thought. I was just remarking to someone else during the game this evening (probably after the horrible camera angle on the third goal) that All-Access instituted instant replays and an on-screen scoreboard during the last few games of one of the last two seasons. Way to regress, CSTV.by Jacob 03 - Hockey
Re: dressing 3 goalies - 17 years ago
WillRonald '09Okay, I didn't know that. But that begs a bigger question, why wouldn't every team dress three goalies? Sometimes it's not deemed worth it to bring a third goalie on the road. Sometimes the team's third goalie is injured or otherwise unavailable. Like the team's third goalie being ineligible due to recent transfer-status? That's about as likely as one of the team's goalies boltby Jacob 03 - Hockey

What they said is illuminated in the rulebook (PDF, Rule 2: Page HR-23). As for your perception that it "looks stupid," I'm pretty sure that's far down the list of reasons Cornell lost to Wayne State. A quick elynah search does reveal that this was never explained in any game thread, so no worries there. Both the rulebook and the number of players allowed to dress have been menby Jacob 03 - Hockey

DafatoneIf things stay like this, Lynah will eventually stop being Lynah. Many of our recruits list Lynah's atmosphere as a major factor in their decision to come to Cornell. If we lose that, we're just an Ivy League school in the middle of upstate NY. Education aside, we don't have much else to draw in recruits. Jordan 04You might have already done it, but I'd check with some off-airport Enterprise locations. In the past, I've found those the most reasonable (both in either not having an under-25 policy or having a reasonable fee) for renting cars "under age." redhair34The Rancor not good for Lenny. I wish he would get traded to a better team. Yeah, where he can play for a better coach that won't chew out his rookie goaltender after one bad period (after 3 stellar outings) and coddle his veteran netminder who has been pretty awful all season. Re: Athletic's Website - 17 years ago
I could swear that there was a convention (which I don't follow) of using an apostrophy to pluralize letters, as in "Mind your p's and q's." Using an apostrophe in the plural of the letter A prevents it from being mistaken for the capitalized form of the word "as". this convention did exist, and still prevails. if it has waned in recent years, it is probably due to backby Jacob 03 - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82Many's the time I wished I could write such a letter. Really? What makes you wish that? The part where he gives his better arguments short shrift in favor of the stir-up-the-mob ones? Or maybe it was the part where he betrays his misunderstanding of the word "caby Jacob 03 - Hockey

TrotskyThat's because whoever is head of government, they have the Queen as head of state. (Well, in Canada, it's technically the Governor General, but nobody has any idea who that is.) billhoward Twice in the same year, famous Cornellians jumped into new head coaching positions without an apprenticeship at the assistant level, and it didn't work out: Ned Harkness going to the pros from that 29-0 year at Cornell, and Dick Betrand going from being a ~ 29-year-old team captain to Cornell's head coach. RitaWhen deciding the seedings, I would like to see the committee somehow factor in your record in the last 16-20 games. I think if you are playing well at the end of the season, it should matter. It shows that you have taken care of business in your conference and conference tourney.
