Ammo for Dekanich tomorrow and Sat. - 17 years ago
A bit OT, but not too bad what with the upcoming games: The folks over at the the Cornell Poke-the-sieve group on Facebook managed to uncover a group on Colgate's facebook community, dedicated to Mark Dekanich, and titled "Mark 'Dexshow' Dekanich for the 2007 Hobey Baker Award". Clearly some of the Colgate students are mesmerized by Dekanich and Colgate's stellar performances thisby sah67 - Hockey

SLU(t) 2 Clarkson 6 final EDIT: SLU(t) defense and goaltending looked very suspect...hopefully it will stay that way when they come to Lynah. Clarkson looks to be getting back on track.by sah67 - Hockey
INCH Power rankings - 17 years ago
This week's INCH Power Rankings are here We drop out of the rankings along with Quinnipiac, but strangely enough Dartmouth jumps in at 19, despite their being in 6th in the ECAC... although they did just win three in a row against some decent Atlantic Hockey teams.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 Brown 5 postgame thread - 17 years ago
calgARI '07 Milo isn't playing for some reason while Barlow has been missing since the last weekend before exams. Barlow missing? I'm pretty sure I saw him all over the ice this weekend, in many cases failing to convert on some decent offensive efforts. Did you mean to say Evan S.?by sah67 - Hockey
Richards's pile of ice - 17 years ago
From the Ithaca Journal re: Romano's penalty shot: "While Feola was doing his mulling, Richards was constructing a mound of ice shavings in front of his goal in an effort to slow down Romano's upcoming penalty shot. The Big Red's Mark McCutcheon then skated over and flipped the ice shavings away, to the roar of the crowd." I totally missed this, but did glance over when Richards wasby sah67 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 Yale 2 postgame thread - 17 years ago
billhoward For those who saw it: Was the against-goal Davenport scored a fluke or did he make a bad play and it cost Cornell? When Davenport slipped, the puck slid out from under him and bounced off Seminoff's skate and in...not off his shoulder, and it didn't touch the post either. IMHO, I don't think Davenport needed to leave the crease and play the puck with Seminoff and Mugford righby sah67 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 Yale 2 (ot, final) - 17 years ago
Some unstructured comments after getting home from the game: This was definitely a heart-breaking tie, and a win we desperately needed. No matter how you want to see the waved-off goal that led to Romano's missed penalty shot (it was difficult to see how the goal actually went in from my vantage-point in D), Feola definitely didn't seem to have control of the situation after the play, and nby sah67 - Hockey
Some new Schafer comments (USCHO weekly column) - 17 years ago
From Sullivan's weekly ECACHL column at USCHO: "Cornell's identity crisis Cornell's program is in the unique position of being young, inexperienced, and fighting for a first-round bye in the league playoffs. But this pack of Big Red hopes to outlast the competition with some hot young stars and a positively adherent sense of chemistry and attitude. "We're up and down, it's bby sah67 - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Clarkson -Freshman - 17 years ago
Elliot Olshansky reported on his rink rat blog that the freshmen would be back for Yale/Brown this weekend, but didn't provide a direct source for that information. I'd imagine that the magnitude of the "disciplinary" offense they committed was significant enough that it warranted a benching for a weekend series (albeit an important one), but not enough that Schafer would want to keepby sah67 - Hockey
USCHO/CSTV Poll (ECAC teams) - 1/15 - 17 years ago
We drop one spot from 14 to 15...not bad considering our 0-2-1 record in the last three games. Clarkson drops from 9 to 10...still obviously a very talented team, but a weekend of conference ties will do that to you. Quinnipiac moves three spots up from 19 to 16 after a strong 4 point-weekend. Like Q, SLU had a dominating 4-point weekend and breaks into the top 20 at 19, after not beingby sah67 - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Clarkson Post-game - 17 years ago
Wodon's starting to count us out...from CHN: "Clarkson played a pair of 1-1 ties this weekend, despite playing better than its opponent in both games. In this one, Cornell hang on for dear life at times. The Big Red did play better than the previous night's loss to SLU, after getting reamed out by coach Mike Schafer. But with four freshman home for the weekend for reported disciplinary reby sah67 - Hockey

Clarkson's announce team gives Davenport the #1 star of the game...why thank you.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 Vs. Clarkson 1 (final) - 17 years ago
I'll take a point out of this weekend...but we could have used more. The PK was back in business, but barely any improvement on the PP. We need both up to speed immediately...not one at a time. Great defense tonight though, and solid stuff from Davenport.by sah67 - Hockey

Princeton knocks off Brown to move into 2nd place in the ECAC if SLU(t) loses which is looking unlikely, or to share 3rd place with the winner of this game...who woulda thunk...and with a below .500 record too.by sah67 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 Vs. Clarkson 1 (2nd intermission) - 17 years ago
We're not playing miserable like last night...but certainly not flying like I would expect after last night. It's also not as physical a game as I would have thought. Cornell starts the 3rd on pp...let's do something with it and move ahead.by sah67 - Hockey
