Emani Fenton with an interception at the D 12 and a "trick" play for the touchdown. The weather here is ugly; mid 30's and intermittent rain which explains attendance....by dag14 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell 3 Mercyhurst 4 (W) - 13 years ago
My sense was that Mercyhurst beat us at our own game. They were more effective with the forecheck and in shutting down our outlet passes, etc. I think the difference may be game experience and I would expect to see a different game from Cornell in January. Each team had a beautiful pp goal that resulted from good puck movement on the pp. Mercyhurst had a regular-strength goal off a nice sby dag14 - Hockey

Really good women's hockey IS fun to watch, as anyone who watched Cornell's post season games last spring could tell you. It is different from men's hockey so those used to the men's game might not appreciate the game at first. I would encourage every Cornell men's ice hockey fan who can get to a women's game to give it a try. Some of the best teams in the country play in the ECAC so you can sby dag14 - Hockey
Re: The Jersey - 13 years ago
I have been a devoted Cornell hockey fan since 1968. I didn't even notice that the jerseys were different. I watched the players wearing them. There actually have been some changes in the Cornell jersey styling over the last 50 years. It isn't like someone toyed with an iconic image when they placed their jersey order whether it was mistaken or intentional.by dag14 - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse in 2011 - 13 years ago
DeLuca actually responded to the question he was asked by his interviewer and the context was the fact that he had been recruited by Moran, played for Petro and Tambroni and then coached with Tambroni -- what was it like to be the next in line in that tradition? As a Cornell lacrosse player and coach, I am sure that Ben DeLuca is well aware of the role that Ned Harkness played in the history ofby dag14 - Other Sports
Re: P. Kennedy is the New Icers' Captain? - 13 years ago
ACM If you had been at the CHA picnic on Sunday afternoon, you would know who the co-captains for this season are. So if one has things to do on a Sunday afternoon in September that preclude attendance at a picnic advertised to Hockey Boosters rather than the world at large, one is not permitted to know who will be a hockey team captain? Give me a break.by dag14 - Hockey

Re: Tamboni to Penn State - 13 years ago
I find that I am having a hard time being truly upset by this. Jeff Tambroni is a great human being and an amazing coach. He would have continued to grow a successful program at Cornell, but he also now has the opportunity to build a great program at Penn State and presumably he was given an offer he couldn't refuse. I wish Jeff and his family all the best in their new adventure. Is Cornellby dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Traveling to Stony Brook? - 13 years ago
There is bound to be a Cornell "tailgate" so it is worth it to arrive an hour+ early to do some partying before actually watching the game. It also makes it more likely that you will get a decent parking place. Last year at Hofstra there was a great mix of current students , and alumni from all over the northeast.by dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Places to eat in Ithaca - 14 years ago
Joe's isn't bad, it is just seems like an Olive Garden knockoff, at least for dinner. My choice in C'Town is the Souvlaki House on Eddy St., just down the hill from Dunbars. My favorite pizza in Ithaca and great Greek food, too.by dag14 - John Spencer Is Dead
Softball Beats Harvard for Ivy Championship - 14 years ago
The softball team split Friday's doubleheader with Harvard and won game 3 this afternoon 3-2 to win the Ivy League and earn the AQ for post-season play. Venue and opponent will be announced Sunday, May 16 late. Congratulations to yet another Cornell team which has posted a tremendous season!by dag14 - Other Sports

I watched this game on TV and as biased as I am in favor of Cornell and against Syracuse, that goal should have been waived off and the game sent to OT if the Time Warner "game clock" was at all accurate.by dag14 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell Sports - Improvement - 14 years ago
Charlie Moore took the lead in re-organizing the Athletic Deparment to make it more "business-like" but I think Andy Noel deserves the bulk of the credit for the success of current teams. He hired and/or promoted most of the current coaches and interceded with the University whenever possible to insure that the programs would be successful.by dag14 - Other Sports
Re: The (Kentucky) Empire Strikes Back - 14 years ago
I didn't realize that student-athletes leaving early to turn pro were not part of the NCAA graduation rate mix. That does undercut my argument. My point was more that what percentage of a recruiting class graduates is less relevant than the quality of the academic experience that a school offers its recruited student-athletes. If athletes are acing bogus courses and hit the real-world withby dag14 - Other Sports
Re: The (Kentucky) Empire Strikes Back - 14 years ago
While I obviously don't have data to support this, I wonder whether it is completely fair to vilify UK basketball based on the results of this study. WHY don't their players graduate? As an example, if you have 10 players in a recruiting class and 2 transfer because of lack of playing time and 3 leave early for the NBA, that reduces your graduation rate to 50%. If 2 out of the 10 recruitsby dag14 - Other Sports
Re: 2010 NCAA hockey regional ticket situation - 14 years ago
Give those poor people a break!!! The "ticket office" is Gene plus 1 or 2 other people on a good day. And a lot of their help is part-time student staff who are probably on break. Between the NCAA rules, dealing with high demand for tickets for two different sports, the number of phone calls they have fielded just from people posting on the forum and their regular work, the fact thatby dag14 - Hockey
