Re: Red Cast Really Sucks - 12 years ago
Actually, the NCAA monitors coverage of men's and women's sports and whether they are comparable. Ads placed by sports info, quality of programs, etc. So while a woman may not file a Title IX action if her webpage is inferior to that of a male athlete in an equivalent sport, the NCAA recertification review look at an institutions commitment to women's teams in this context.by dag14 - Hockey

Re: Colgate starting time - 12 years ago
How much money do students spend on 2.5 hours worth of alcohol consumption? Two six packs of Brooklyn Lager, Magic Hat, etc., cost more than a student ticket to a hockey game. I realize there are many students who are on tight budgets and whose families do not have a lot of disposable income. However, to say that $13-15 for an evening's entertainment is "too expensive" is an exagby dag14 - Hockey

Women go to overtime to beat Dartmouth 1-0. Not our best effort of the year but a W is a W....by dag14 - Hockey

Re: Wrestling versus Binghamton - 12 years ago
I also think the officials influenced the outcome of this match. I am not criticizing the officiating because I don't know nearly enough to make a judgement but the officials were mic'ed so we could hear what they were telling the wrestlers. At least one of the guys did not tolerate any passive behavior. He was always telling the guys to "wrestle out there," he seemed very quick to caby dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Wrestling versus Binghamton - 12 years ago
Binghamton wrestled an unbelievable match. Kudos to their guys. Not that Cornell didn't want to win but there is nothing like the adrenaline generated by being an underdog. I think that tonight we did great things for the future of their program.by dag14 - Other Sports

Weather on the gulf coast in the 50s today and unbelievably windy; hard frost warnings for tonight. Granted it isn't as bad as Ithaca in January but I doubt the boys are sunning on the beach and frolicking in the surf between practice sessions...Outlet mall maybe?by dag14 - Hockey

Re: Florida UMass-Cornell postgame - winter swoon? - 12 years ago
I watched the video of this game and while it makes it harder to judge the play than would be the case watching live, I really don't think it is fair to blame the outcome on the goaltender. The team had a lapse, meltdown, whatever you want to call it. They outplayed UMass in the first period and got out-hustled after that. A team that can only score goals on the power play can't expect to wiby dag14 - Hockey

Dave Pittard transferred from Navy, not UVA. In addition, the Pittard family is from upstate NY so Cornell was a logical alternative for two players who found themselves less than completely satisfied with their chosen college.by dag14 - Other Sports

Re: Are the games in Florida on Redcast - 12 years ago
If you click on the "watch" link, it takes you only to audio coverage. These games have never been on RedCast in the past and I am sure if there was to be video coverage, it would be noted in the game notes, and on-line article about the tournament.by dag14 - Hockey

Try Ft. Lauderdale. It isn't that much farther than Miami, there are lots of direct flights from LaGuardia and Newark. And Alligator Alley is a neat drive. Just don't be heading west at sundown....by dag14 - Hockey

Re: Jersey Mockups - 12 years ago
Did you notice BU's jerseys? They haven't changed since I started watching them play in the 70's. And they happen to be almost identical to ours. And the Detroit Red Wings'. I personally like that there have been few, if any, changes over the years. It reflects pride in the tradition; generations of Cornell hockey players have warn the same hockey sweaters.by dag14 - Hockey

America One carries Mercyhurst women's hockey. It took me awhile to find it yesterday but I watched the game. I just tried to find a link to the game tonight and could not do it even though I know that it is being broadcast. If anyone can solve this riddle, please shareby dag14 - Hockey
Re: Not a goal? - 12 years ago
I was watching MSG. During the replay I would swear I heard the puck "plink" against the glass. The next thing I knew, it was dropping from above. I would guess that the puck came in high enough to hit the top of the glass, a clip holding the netting, etc. and ricoche back at a weird angle. The ref probably heard the same sound and was expecting the puck to drop into play along theby dag14 - Hockey
