Re: Awards 2019-20 - 4 years ago
RichH Malinsky gets Rookie of the Month, and Galajda is Goalie of the Month for the ECAC. I’ll let Jim or someone link more stories. But I’m getting annoyed with the league’s award graphics. No school, position, or years listed. Just names and 3 pictures of guys in suits. The copy doesn’t even mention the school for Malinsky. That’s pretty bad. Well, the lede does, but that's stiby Beeeej - Hockey

ugarte Beeeej Tom Lento On a related note, Cornell has the 51st ranked schedule strength in KRACH, and it's so terrible largely due to the ECAC part of the schedule (note: it is set at NaN, so I don't really know how it gets ranked anywhere other than last, but Colgate is 44th so it's probably not too far wrong). By contrast, Minnesota State is 12-1-1 against the toughest schedule in the nation,by Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Lynah East December 2019 - 4 years ago
Alas, not only would we have been unable to attend Friday's game in person, but dss28's firm's holiday party is Friday 6-10pm and it's something we definitely shouldn't be skipping, so we can't watch at home either. I'll have to settle for CHN's score alerts. Not to worry, though, we'll make up for it by flying to Vegas for the Fortress Invitational and being at Lynah in person for the home versiby Beeeej - Hockey

I was fortunate enough to make it back to Lynah for those two games. I don't think I had a more enjoyable weekend of games at Lynah, coming out of those games elated thinking that Cornell could again be a top tier Div I team. There was aby Beeeej - Hockey

Swampy Question: If instead of being by Schoellkopf, where the team practices, the Abrams were near the dorms where a few students were tossing a lacrosse ball around, would the case be any different? How? Why? Comment: If Cornell would get off its ass and build an indoor athletic facility for field sports, this would not have happened. Trotsky If I was Harvard I'd be pretty pissed off. So would I, but it wouldn't have anything to do with the USCHO poll. They've been steadily moving up in the poll for weeks and they've barely played anybody good.by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Lax lawsuit - visiting parent hit by ball - 4 years ago
billhoward Unusual lawsuit. Long time from the alleged incident until it was filed. Claims of loss of consortium. Curious to see how this turns out. To me it seems unusual because it's a little outside the scope of the usual "Assumption of Risk" doctrine - where a spectator to a sporting event or practice is assumed to understand the risk and takes on the appropriate legal responsibilby Beeeej - Other Sports

Trotsky martyBut this hardly explains how/why a major would be called for interference. Was it "contact to the head"? I thought any minor could include that and the inclusion made it a major. Jeff Hopkins '82 dag14 Sorry, after 40 years of teaching Cornell undergrads I have to disagree. And it isn't the students with poor grades who cause problems these days. It is the students who get a B+ instead of an A. "I worked really hard." "I studied all night." And sometimes "I always go to class." But whatever the lead in, the next question is..."So wby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
Trotsky ECAC teams seem to struggle in early games against power conference opponents. For Ivies this makes sense -- Ivy game n is often non-Ivy opponent's game n + 4. Those differences are most pronounced early. It doesn't explain non-Ivy ECAC members' struggles. Isn't the differential 7? Ivy limit 29, ECAC limit 32, others limit 36? Or am I remembering wrong? Denver's already 4 games in.by Beeeej - Hockey

RichH Weder An expansion of the wrestling facility is planned. I'll put down this axe I've been grinding to comment on the details of this project: The additional space would be used for locker rooms, a practice gym, fitness space, film room and other wrestling-related functions. To make room for this facility, about half of the existing on-site parking lot would be eliminated, while the remby Beeeej - Other Sports
