Re: Ivy League booze? - 20 years ago
Sure, but why would you need a term for adding "no meatballs" to your sub? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Ivy League booze? - 20 years ago
Nope, it's a reference to the tone of your voice if you were partially castrated (i.e., had "one ball". Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

"Soprano" means "one meatball," and has been in use since at least 1987. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Who will be in Ithaca for Hahvahd? - 20 years ago
JTW alluded to the November '95 game at which brand-new coach Schafer helped us exorcise ten years worth of demons... Well, I wasn't there. I won't go into why (no reason to start that thread again), but I wasn't. And that night, I promised myself that if I could have any say in the matter, I would simply not ever miss another Cornell-Hahvahd game again, home or away. And I haven't, though I'by Beeeej - Hockey

Bump. The clear preference among those who expressed one, either here or by private e-mail, was for Dec. 26. So now I'll actually set about planning to buy a block of tickets. Clean slate time; e-mailing me your preference before is not enough to get you a ticket. E-mail me privately at jta1 at cornell.edu and let me know how many you need. Let's make the deadline Dec. 5; if I wait until aftby Beeeej - Hockey

Of course!! With bells on and with my new sweetie. Probably won't make it to Brown on Friday, though - Yana can't get off work early enough. Anybody got any suggestions for warping the time-space continuum? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Dryden - 20 years ago
Dryden's the "best college hockey goalie ever," according to Mike Eruzione. See for details. Thank goodness Eruzione didn't mention the perfect season. Beeeej P.S. Given how bad a skater the bear was at the first WMU game, I don't think it's just the candy problem that has benched the bear (if in fact the bear has been benched). Let's face it - this guy was not an ice skater by any stretch of the imagination. Back in late '92 or early '93 I skated as the bear after driving a twelve-hour taxicab shift, and because I was having trouble, the Pep Band startedby Beeeej - Hockey

I disagree - McKee had plenty of tough saves to make last night, and made them - including a couple of breakaways and a couple of nasty scrambles in front of the net. Yes, the defense was certainly better this weekend than last, but McKee did a great job, especially once Princeton started to find their power play and moved the puck to the net better. I appreciate the suggestion, but... with all the traveling the Faithful already have to do to catch Cornell away games, I'm assuming most wouldn't then make the ten-hour round-trip to Atlantic City while the semester's still on. Hey, if there were a game on the first night of Hannukah, that'd be a tough sell to me, too - but this is like 36 hours after Christmas morning. Let's go see Sam in Atlantic City - 20 years ago
You already know from other posts that Sam Paolini is tearing up the ECHL as a rookie on the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. I told him tonight at Princeton that I'm hoping to head down there to catch a game sometime this winter, and the more I think about it, the more I think it'd be great if we put together a group of Faithful to go. Re: Crimson hockey page - 20 years ago
I agree, Jon - it's good to see an opponent's fan posting here intelligently, and it's also great to see Harvard finally recognizing that it's okay to support their hockey team. For most of the sixteen years I've been following college hockey, your average Harvard undergrad either didn't know there was a hockey program, or believed it wasn't cool to care - and that includes most of their nationaby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: My Opinion of Cornell after the Princeton game - 20 years ago
McCutcheon took a few unnecessary cheap shots tonight, and I was a bit surprised; usually Schafer's players are more disciplined. But if you like that kind of thing, you'll be happy to know he managed only to do it when Dunn couldn't see it. Seven power plays is plenty to give any team we're playing, thank you. That's interesting - I went with a friend who is not a CHA member. I sort of assumed that it was the sort of thing I could bring a date to if I wanted, so why not the guy who happens be driving me from Buffalo to NYC on the day of the banquet? They never asked or commented. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
