Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: sun article - 21 years ago
The Sun does that stuff all the time. It's very embarrassing to think that an Ivy League school can't post its newspaper on the web without so many egregious errors.by Erica - Hockey

Your class dues go to your class fund, which is controlled by class officers from your class, hence the name. Re: Links to free audio broadcasts by Cornell's opponents - 21 years ago
I don't have a computer, so this discussion doesn't concern me, however, sometimes you guys make it sound like you are the only ones who listen to sports on the internet. There is a HUGE contingent of football fans (ie. mostly family) that are thrilled they still have the opportunity to listen to their kids/friends/students'/ football games. And I'm surprised that you guys are appalled at havingby Erica - Hockey
Re: T-shirts for Harvard away - 21 years ago
No offense, but you ain't going to get money from CCOB. Apparently, they didn't get the money they usually get from Cornell, so as a result we members have to pay twice the ticket amount for all events, in addition to our dues. Example, the Club got HU/CU football tickets for $6, however, we all had to pay $12. Thus, I haven't figured out what benefits I get for being in the club, except to get aby Erica - Hockey
Re: Guelph 2 Harvard 6 (last weekend's game) - 21 years ago
I guess the cheer "your mom called and she said...you SUCK!" worked. She was so embarrassed, she disowned him. Or at least told him to take her name off his jersey. Or maybe his dad, whichever.by Erica - Hockey
Re: Harvard tix - 21 years ago
I just got Harvard tix from a friend. Seems the HU office only sells to Harvard alums. However, Brown tix you can get from their ticket office.by Erica - Hockey

our esteemed goalie - 21 years ago
There was an obscure reference to Ken Dryden in yesterday's Boston Globe. He's talking about a comparison to Angels' pitcher Francisco (K-Rod) Rodriguez. This is the part in which he's mentioned. Didn't know Cornell is an unknown galaxy, especially for hockey in those years. The tix went on sale to the Cornell Club of Boston on October 1st, but they will never turn anyone away at the door. Don't worry about it so much.by Erica - Hockey
Re: OT: Baseball scoring - 21 years ago
Say the shortstop makes a brilliant play and the first baseman just misses the ball. Is that an assist with an E-3? I'm not so sure, since I never keep track of assists/putouts when I keep score. Well, it depends. In my experience, it seems that that would most likely be scored a hit based on degree of difficulty. Re: OT: Baseball scoring - 21 years ago
What about a wild pitch? Is it not wild if no one is on base? Is it not wild if no one advances? Does a tree make a sound when it falls if no one is there to hear it?Josh Herman '99 wrote: And I was trying to stay out of the baseball discussion...by Erica - Hockey
Re: Salary question - 21 years ago
I have no clue, but I imagine that they would be making more than any entry-level post-grad job would give them. Also, athletes tend to have a harder time getting jobs because of the lack of time to do interviews and travel to the companies, so they often have only the alternative of being unemployed searching for a job in this market, or having a ball playing their sport. Re: [World Cup] England vs Denmark (No Spoilers Before ABC Tape-Delay) - 21 years ago
But I'm confused. I know I watched Ireland/Spain live on TV, because I stayed up until about 3:30 Sat night/Sun morning watching it, and then looked on the sports news on Sunday to find the score but couldn't find out what happened until Sunday night. It had to have been live, because it said "live" on the TV and I definitely don't think I was dreaming. I don't know what channel it wasby Erica - Hockey

Wow, I didn't know Mark McRae was an All-American Academic selection. That's pretty impressive. A 3.89 GPA in biology (pre-med.) Geez, I know how hard that is... Sorry, I didn't realize this was another thread...by Erica - Hockey

Re: Univ. of No Hardware - 22 years ago
OK, but that's not "no hardware." And of course they don't have a national title, they just won their first conference title. Considering that our last one was 32 years ago, it's not like we have really dominated since then either. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just giving you a hard time. I don't think the UNH fans would really get that you mean no national titles by saying "no hby Erica - Hockey
Re: Univ. of No Hardware - 22 years ago
That doesn't really work. They just won the Hockey East, and we didn't win the ECAC.by Erica - Hockey
fun li'l tidbit - 22 years ago
I just noticed (as I'm sure others already have) that, should we play UNH, that would pit the top defensive team in the nation against the top offensive team. As cool as that sounds, for some reason I wish that Cornell would be the top offensive team in that situation. UNH scores an average of a whopping 4.68 gpg and we allow only 1.67. I guess it's hard to predict the score in that situation, buby Erica - Hockey
Re: directions?!?! - 22 years ago
Screw mapquest. I would advise you to go the Centrum webpage and take the directions off there. They are probably the best. As long as you know from what direction you are coming. (I assume so!) Here's the URL:by Erica - Hockey
Re: Pack more than a t-shirt - 22 years ago
Well, last time we played Maine up at Maine we tied them, and we played them at the Everblades two years ago. I don't remember, but I assume we lost. It would be fun to play them again. Plus, my coworker went there, and he's looking forward to the game this Saturday, so Harvard "can see what it's like to play a 'real team.'" BU would be fun, too, but the Maine fans are a thousand timesby Erica - Hockey
Re: Joe N. gets traded to Devils - 22 years ago
I'm so tired of hearing how the Devils and NJ suck suck suck. No one who has never lived in NJ can say it sucks. It's really not that bad. Nor are the Devils. They have been in the Stanley Cup finals the last two years, winning twice in the last 6 years. Congrats to Joe, and to the Devils, and best of luck to both. I'm personally a huge Devils fan and am sad to see Arnott go, but hey, at least tby Erica - Hockey
Re: NCAA Games on TV? - 22 years ago
They haven't yet decided who will be broadcasting the games. They said to check www.ncaatournament.com later today, but that the decision would be made sometime this week. In New England I know that FSNE and NESN are vying for rights, as are Empire Sports and YES. They will both be broadcasting some games. In short, they haven't decided yet. Mark H. Actually, I know the team isn't "scared." I was referring to some of the people on the forum. Maybe scared isn't the best word, but you know what I mean.by Erica - Hockey
Re: We're a damn good ... - 22 years ago
Am I the only one who wants to see a rematch with Dartmouth (other than the Cornell hockey team)? We shouldn't be "scared" to play a good team for the ECAC title. I think it would be most justified if we win the title knowing that we beat every team in the league at least once. And when it comes to the playoffs, RPI is just as much of a threat anyway.
