Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: BU Postgame - 16 years ago
There's something to be said of talent, and how much of the supposed gap was responsible for the loss. I think that the reason we struggle to score is that we struggle to finish. We set up opportunities just fine but always seem just one move away from capitalizing, we just don't make enough of those quick critical finishing moves (with the exception of Greening/Nash).by imafrshmn - Hockey

Re: Cornell 1 at Harvard 2 (3rd) - 16 years ago
Harvard had the upper edge on the forecheck tonight and I think that made the difference. Good goaltending on both sides kept things tight. Sucks seems the better team at this point in the season.by imafrshmn - Hockey

Cornell PK looking awful, not moving their feet, only a matter of time before H scores at this rateby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 at Harvard 1 (End 2nd) - 16 years ago
Cornell not doing a good job clearing the zone so far in the 3rd, Crimson getting a few good chances but not capitalizingby imafrshmn - Hockey

Al DeFlorioupperdeckharvard has internet video.. you buy by the month 5.95.. dartmouth is 7.95.. Be sure to record the games so we can all see Riley Nash's next highlight-reel goal... yeah! i second thatby imafrshmn - Hockey

Al DeFlorioThe CSTV webcast: "We're sorry, but this event has not yet begun. Please try back later." Nothing's changed. Yale offers it free, at least. Where?by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5, Quinnipiac 3 (postgame) - 16 years ago
A great, gritty, win for the guys. We played hard both nights, but tonight we were keener on scoring goals. Here's a video I took of our 2nd goal, a nice slapshot from Mike Devin with a good set up from Michael Kennedy.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Editorial in the Daily Sun about Lynah - 16 years ago
I think the biggest problem with the lynah faithful these days that a lot of us percieve is just a general trend towards co-optation by cornell/athletics dept. . . . i.e., straying from its roots.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 vs. Princeton 3 (Final) - 16 years ago
Disappointing loss. The fluke 3rd goal really hurt, and Davenport didn't look very comfortable tonight. Refs didn't call holding, and there was plenty of it. We didn't get enough skaters in the slot during the best opportunities. Our PP was so-so. I'd like to see better puck movement. Riley Nash has shown good creativity on offense and will be fun to watch. Ray Sawada needs to take the pucby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Nash could return as early as November - 16 years ago
kroseugarteDILLIGAFI totally agree. There is no reason to rush him back. Even take a medical redshirt if you have to and come back next season fully rehabbed. And miss the chance to play with his brother? ZING!!! That was a good oneby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Notes for Quinny game this weekend - 16 years ago
Anyone care to open up the season in style this weekend? I'm thinking of bringing my giant "SIEVE" sign out to A for its third hockey season. People have been lamenting the decline in fan enthusiasm and interest in hockey of late, but we can try to turn it around. For one, it seems to me that most underclassmen don't even know what elynah.com is. Anyone want to quartercard spam theby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Ottawa Postgame - 16 years ago
Could the show just be recorded as a podcast and hosted by elynah if the sloperadio thing falls through? (Actually, with all the podcast trouble last year, this would probably be a good idea in any case)by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Ottawa Postgame - 16 years ago
Will anyone be taking over column-writing duties with Ari gone? As it stands, I don't think the Weekly Cowbell show on slope radio is coming back.by imafrshmn - Hockey

That bear was disgusting, agreed. How about that new ECAC logo, eh?by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Nash injury confirmation - 16 years ago
I talked to Brendan on the hockey line, and he told me that he has played almost no organized hockey with his brother since they are two years separated...i.e., we shouldn't expect Abbott-like chemistry between the two of them and I don't think either of them are particularly anxious to play together.by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Ticket Numbers and Camp Out - 16 years ago
amerks127Sorry to everyone who didn't get the seat they wanted...ebilmes and I were talking right before selection...wouldn't general admission be so nice and fix so many problems? yes!!!by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Ticket Numbers and Camp Out - 16 years ago
ebilmesSeniors bolted straight for B. Last year, a lot of seniors took seats in A along the glass and in the E/F corner, which left seats in B for those of us stuck a few hundred numbers back, but the class of 2008 was fixated on sitting in B. I'm hoping this means that B will fill up a little earlier before the game and that fans will know what's going on. Probably the fact that so many peopleby imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: Ticket Numbers and Camp Out - 16 years ago
First undergrad general pool number is 356. Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to the other ones. The earlybirds like myself (98) got screwed. Why can't we have general admission?by imafrshmn - Hockey
Re: 47,000 and counting... - 16 years ago
Al DeFlorioChris '03I'm looking at the New York Times recap from 11/25/49 of that Thanksgiving Day game now saying 75,000 were at the game. I'd attach it but it's beyond the file size limit. That in itself says a lot about how Ivy League football has changed in 50+ years. Today, you'd find barely a paragraph in the grey lady. Here's a quote from that NY Times article: So carried away were theby imafrshmn - Other Sports
Re: ECAC Quaterfinals, Game 1: Quinnipiac 1 @ Cornell 0 (Final-OT) - 17 years ago
A shitty way to end a game that could have gone either way. This team does not play with as much pride as last year's.by imafrshmn - Hockey
