Re: Ex-Cornell coaches: Where are the now? - 19 years ago
Mark Taylor, an assistant under Brian McCutcheon (and I think Mark was also an assistant at Elmira when Brian was head coach there), has been the head coach at Hobart since 2000.by Give My Regards - Hockey

I'm not sure, but I think it's still the case that if he transfers to a school playing Div II or III hockey, he wouldn't have to sit out at all. If Davenport is leaving, he joins Mike Doyle as the only Cornell goaltenders to post a 1.000 save percentage since Lynah Rinkby Give My Regards - Hockey
Re: Fish at Lynah East? - 19 years ago
Agreed, throwing things is a bad tradition to try to take on the road. I have vivid memories of the RPI... ushers? security force? God knows what they were, but they were extremely displeased one year when some Cornell fans attempted to do the newspaper thing at Houston. Pointing out that none of the newspapers came anywhere near the ice didn't defuse the situation either.by Give My Regards - Hockey
Re: Exhibition season at Canisus - 19 years ago
According to USCHO, the exhibitionist has been suspended indefinitely for "violating team rules." Hmm, one wonders if these are the same rules that caused the player revolt that led to Cavanaugh's dismissal.by Give My Regards - Hockey

Re: Clutch-and-grab: unfair rap on Cornell? - 19 years ago
I don't think anybody should be worried about an unfair rap. If Cornell's opponents want to spend their time preparing for a clutch-and-grab team, more power to 'em. Gotta love the use of the word "historically". As in, "within the five or ten minutes that this staff writer has actually watched collegiate hockey"?by Give My Regards - Hockey

Re: Ivy league Restrictions - 19 years ago
Off the top of my head, here are three differences: 1. Ivies are restricted to 29 regular-season games. The NCAA limit is 34. Also, the NCAA allows several exemptions for things like games played in Alaska and certain early-season tournaments like the IceBreaker. These don't count toward the NCAA limit, but the Ivy League does count them toward its own limit. I think Yale went past 29 inby Give My Regards - Hockey

Since then, names like Ken Dryden, Ned Harkness, Lance Nethery, Joe Nieuwendyk, Daren Eliot, Mike Schafer and David LeNeveu have won championship after championship. Their stories are recounted here. This would include Ivy League championships, as Lance Nethery's teams won two Ivy titles but no ECAC regular-season or tournament crowns.by Give My Regards - Hockey

Back to the ticket info, and just out of curiosity... to anyone who got one of those flyers, does it give any information on what happens with the playoff tickets if Cornell does NOT host an ECAC playoff series this year? Re: [OT] Olympic gold medal flap vs. Fifth Down game - 19 years ago
Nothing really to add to this discussion, but it does remind me of one of my favorite stories from Cornell's infamous fifth-down game. The referee who screwed up the call was named Red (of all things) Friesell, and predictably he got a lot of sarcastic telegrams and letters from other teams' coaches and fans.
