For contrast to our Lehigh stream, check out the ESPN+ archive of Maryland at Princeton on the same day. THAT'S the way you do it.by TimV - Other Sports
Re: Cornell admissions - 1 year ago
CAS Ahh, the good old days that I remember. Cornell posts admission stats dating back to 1980. The total number of applications received this year are up over 300% compared to 1980 (71K vs 17K), while the total number of admits is actually down 10% this year vs 1980 (4,908 vs 5,456). How many of us older alums would be admitted if we applied today, with the admit rating falling to 6.9% from 32%by TimV - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 1 year ago
CU2007 Is the freshman (cascadden?) our best hope for faceoffs? Faceoff today was not so bad. The Lehigh FOGO, one of the best in the nation, gets 60-65% routinely. Today he had 66%, so average. Petrakis has problems with violations, which he should be able to overcome, But he was OK against UAlbany's guy, and so was Psyllos. Cascadden matched up way better with Lehigh because of his size, waby TimV - Other Sports

Re: Cornell @ Colgate 2.11.23 - 1 year ago
Our shooting from medium to short range has disappointed for a long time. Do they still have the skate treadmill? Do they ever set that up with a n angled or unangled goal for on-the-move shooting practice?by TimV - Hockey

Thanks. I'll see them play UAlbany on Saturday. Anybody else going?by TimV - Other Sports
Re: Love Means Not Having to Say "You Just Suck": Cornell at Harvard - 1 year ago
Iceberg That's three goals against where Shane has been screened. Harvard's top two lines are talented but they're doing all the fundamental stuff, too On the PP Goal Maklinski was way too passive staying 3 feet off the guy that was screening Shane and never trying to move him off at all. I guess he was trying to look out for the cross ice pass to the back door. Glad he got the goal later thoby TimV - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 & schedule - Ivy Tournament date/site - 1 year ago
Trotsky Does Ivy lax have a Mecca like the Palestra is for Ivy basketball? Is it at Princeton? Yes. Lower Alumni Field, where the barking ghost of Ned Harkness can still be heard late at night.by TimV - Other Sports
Re: Cornell @ Boston University, Jan. 14, 2023 - GAME TIME IS 4PM - 1 year ago
underskill Well glass half full is that they didn’t look overwhelmed from a talent standpoint so you can chalk it up to an inexperienced team learning how to win. But 15 of 28 players on the roster are juniors and seniors, with 20 of 30 letter winners returning. COVID year notwithstanding.by TimV - Hockey

abmarks Iceberg Malinski continues to own BU Malinski's the one who misplayed the puck just inside the BU blue line with about 35 seconds left, leading directly to the final goal. See what happens when you anger the woofing gods? Posters on the USCHO BU thread were impressed and want him in the portal if/when his Ivy eligibility is used up.by TimV - Hockey
Re: Cornell infomercial - Truth or Conspiracy Theory ?? - 1 year ago
Trotsky Faced with the choice between being mildly inconvenienced by the hypocritical, mincing performative wokeness of affluent 20-something whites who will age on to vote for lower top marginal rates and a warfare state and then wonder why the country continues to crater, just like their pathetic Clintonista parents, vs being burned alive on a dying planet while being shot by AR-toting whiteby TimV - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Keopple's Helmet - 1 year ago
Anybody ever notice the inscription on the back of Keopple's helmet? II Thessalonians 3:10 “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” No, Trotsky. It's not from Lenin.by TimV - Hockey

billhoward TimV mike1960 Bill Tierney is retiring after this season. Great career. One social media account asserts he will coach a granddaughter's lacrosse team. Referees are calling an emergency meeting. <rimshot> Tierney is 70. Jim Boeheim, still rolling along, is 78 although Boeheim and his wife, Juli, are way younger, combined, than Bill and Susanz Tierney. You know the agesby TimV - Other Sports

Ken Niumatalolo got fired by Navy after losing to Army 2 years in a row, but at one point had about 7 victories in a row, and a winning overall record at Navy, with all its recruiting disadvantages, against tough opponents. A great coach and a great man on many levels. Love to see him in Ithaca.by TimV - Other Sports

Re: Cornell football 2022 - 1 year ago
Hard to argue that. Ivy football generally has been a stepping stone for NESCAC type or other D3 coaches trying to move up. Al Bagnoli who resurrected Penn and Columbia previously at Union.by TimV - Other Sports

Running Back Carruthers threw a devastating block to spring him. The end zone view of the run looked to me like the guy he smashed took out a second Dartmouth pursuer. Carruthers had a great game, even with the fumble.by TimV - Other Sports
