Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: UConn @ Cornell (MSG), 11/26/2022 - 1 year ago
ER I’m actually listening to the UConn audio and syncing it with the video feed. Slightly more bearable. At least I can hear the crowd. Thanks. I may try doing that myself. Edit: Tried it. Didn't like it. Couldn't really hear much more.by andyw2100 - Hockey

Dunc Also… why is the video feed just the Jumbotron with our announcers piped over…. Makes it somewhat hard to watch ngl Yeah, can't stand not having crowd and ice sounds. What the hell?by andyw2100 - Hockey

Give My Regards This is a change to Rule 14 ("Adjustments to Clothing and Equipment" ) that was adopted this season. Text of the proposal: "Goalkeeper equipment issue (protocol). The Ice Hockey Rules Committee added additional guidance when goalkeepers have an equipment issue. When an equipment issue causes the goalkeeper to come to the bench for assistance, officials shall insby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: SHU @ Cornell, 11/22/2022 - 1 year ago
I thought the following was interesting, and not something I remember seeing before, so I thought I'd see what others think. At 17:02 the second period the Sacred Heart goalie was having some sort of equipment issue. After a fairly short time one of the refs skated over to the Sacred Heart bench and told their coach to either put in a backup or take a time out. There was a little back and fortby andyw2100 - Hockey

Trotsky As a Section C Exile, it was wonderful to see the kids extend all the way from A to H. I hope cheers are starting to sync up again. As another Section C exile, now in M, I think you may be expecting too much from sections D,E,F, etc. From the C split down very few students even stand for the Alma Mater.by andyw2100 - Hockey

Trotsky ugarte only concern is steinburg left the ice after getting hit on the hand or wrist early in the period (his glove was still on the ice for seger's goal iirc) and i'm not sure if he's been out on the ice again.Vanini said Matt's lost glove might actually have confused Hopkins on Seger's goal. Actually he left both his gloves on the ice.by andyw2100 - Hockey

Jim Hyla andyw2100 While much of the above is helpful, it looks like someone needs a refresher on the woofing gods. He did put ifs in his discussion. He edited those in after I posted. Let's hope the woofing gods never saw the original post.by andyw2100 - Hockey

Re: Cornell @ Quinnipiac Fri 2/25/22 - 2 years ago
ACM Guess there was a massive bookkeeping exercise at the end of last night's game. Minors and miscoducts against everyone on the ice. What I once referred to as "a whole mess of penalties". Yes, but they missed Quinnipiac's extra skater. Five skaters on each team got 2 minutes for roughing and 10 minute minors. So 60 minutes per team. But nothing for Quinnipiac's extra attacker!by andyw2100 - Hockey

Trotsky andyw2100 Trotsky Ben Tupker has apparently "learned something today," as he is out of the healthy scratch dog house and back in, for Kovich who still seems really dinged up. Was there any more word on Andreev? He wasn't in the lineup last night and it sounds like he's out tonight as well.Nothing other than he is not in the lineup. He's been hurting for months, I'm not shockeby andyw2100 - Hockey

Re: Cornell @ Quinnipiac Fri 2/25/22 - 2 years ago
ice A Q player cleared the stick away into center ice to make it hard for the Cornell player to retrieve it. About a minute later, a second Cornell player lost his stick and the same thing happened so that two Cornell players didn't have their sticks. I have never seen that in a hockey game before. The ref called the second stick clearer (Brendan Less) for a 2 minute interference penalty. Iby andyw2100 - Hockey

Trotsky Harvard and Northeastern have never met in the final. I'm no mathematician, but wouldn't Harvard have to actually, you know, --WIN-- a semi-final game in order for them to meet Northeastern in the final?by andyw2100 - Hockey

BearLover upprdeck they didnt sell more tickets. could be just more season ticket holders actually came being only 1 game this weekend. Pretty sure they sold more tickets. Last night’s attendance was listed at 3201, as compared to each of the previous four games which were listed at 2133. Last night also appeared at least 50% more full than each of the prior four games, including on the student sby andyw2100 - Hockey

Swampy Witness our series at ASU. We weren't missing many players, but COVID made CU implement more draconian limits on student activities, which deprived the team of practice time. I'm pretty sure I recall reading that several of our players did have COVID, and had only recently recovered before the ASU series.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Q Game Thread - 2 years ago
Trotsky Or just end the game after 60 minutes as a tie. My suggestion above was attempting to remain in line with what seems to be the "let's have fewer ties" goal that must have been the cause of the change from the former five minute five on five. I'd also take no OT. The 3 on 3 stuff, while less silly than a shootout, still isn't the way to settle a great game that is tied afby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Q Game Thread - 2 years ago
nshapiro Using the kind of delicate language Trotsky would - Fuck the casual fan. Scrap the 3-on-3, play a 5-on-5 overtime, in which the winner gets credit for a win, and if you have to, have a shootout for conference purposes that would count as a tie in pairwise. How about five minutes of 5 on 5 regular OT, with an OT win being a regular win for pairwise purposes, and then a second OT if neeby andyw2100 - Hockey

Re: Season Ticket Renewal - 2 years ago
I received an email with new sports attendance policies a little while ago. I'll copy it below, but the big issue for hockey is that at least for the Princeton/Quinnipiac weekend non-student season tickets will be honored, but single-game tickets for non-students will not be sold. Thanks, as always, for putting this together, Jim. I've already entered the ECAC dates on my calendar. As for typos, etc., the November 4 listing for Princeton needs an one more 'n.' Thanks again! Andyby andyw2100 - Hockey

JasonN95 I thought the control on the PP was good and I like the slot one timer setup they try with Berard. Wasn't that attempt from the slot with Berard last night the exact play Andreev scored on last week at MSG? Assuming so, it was executed perfectly both times. Re: Red Hot game thread and watch - 2 years ago
marty Or take a minute to show one!! Sam Malinski, third period! I hadn't noticed this watching in real-time, but check out the BU player Malinski beats. He leaves his stick on the ice and kinda throws his hands up in despair!by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Game thread - 2 years ago
upprdeck while we were sloppy at times last night on D the will to fight thru checks and control pucks last night was impressive, even the hustle to get to the pucks and go around defenders was relentless all night Pretty late in the third period, when the game was long-since decided, Andreev went down to successfully block a hard shot and actually came up a little lame. That said a lot!by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Game thread - 2 years ago
Iceberg dbilmes I feel sorry for RPI goalie. Why did they leave him in the entire game? Is their backup that bad? That was my thought. Marshall should've been pulled as early as the fluky 4th goal. His defense didn't do him any favors but he shouldn't have been in there after the 1st period. We were wondering if perhaps the backup goalie was nursing some injury that they didn't want to risk aby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Game thread - 2 years ago
jtwcornell91 The band would play Davy in 3/4 tempo if we scored a bunch of goals, just to be different. Interesting! I didn't know that. Thanks!by andyw2100 - Hockey
