Re: ECAC SF Lake Placid: Brown vs. Cornell - 5 years ago
So anyone have a view whether meeting Brown on Olympic ice favors or disfavors Cornell? The old thinking when Cornell was big and bruising was the extra surface was a disadvantage. Is Cornell now built to take advantage of the ice vs Brown? Or is the regulation vs Olympic debate overblown?by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: ECAC QF Game 3: Union vs. Cornell (4:00 PM Start) - 5 years ago
ugarte yesssssss up to 12 in the pairwise, so, on the right side of the bubble Union was at 16 I believe before the game. I wonder if they had won if they would have leaped past Cornell. That would have been rough.by JasonN95 - Hockey

Well, I'm getting my $4.99 worth out of ESPN+. First few minutes of 3OT has been manic for the announcers.by JasonN95 - Hockey

abmarks Holy F... That Regus goal was absolutely insane. I think that's a legitimate ESPN Top Ten Plays of the Day candidate.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: 2019-01-25: #12 Cornell at Colgate - 5 years ago
ugarte the last two minutes of that game were beautiful Completely agree. There were some stretches during the game including that where Cornell’s puck control was outstanding. Some very good passing at times, most obviously the tic-tac-toe puck movement for the third goal.by JasonN95 - Hockey

@ Harvard 1/19/19 - 5 years ago
Defeated Harvard 6-0, with a hat trick and short handed goal. The one Cornell trumpeter at the game got a workout.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: MSU comes to town - 5 years ago
I was surprised to see that MSU didn’t have more games under its belt. An exhibition game, split a pair with NMU two weekends ago and off last weekend.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2019 - 5 years ago
CU77 Per an Albany-fan poster today on laxpower: "TD was in Ithaca this past weekend..." He’d be doing his parents a real favor if he came to Cornell. They wouldn’t have to travel to two places for games and they’d avoid the discomfort of having children on opposing sides in the Cornell-Syracuse games. (That’s what I’m telling myself.)by JasonN95 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2019 - 5 years ago
How long do I get to enjoy this possibility until it’s announced he’s going to Syracuse, driving me to claw my eyes out of their sockets?by JasonN95 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - 5 years ago
Is Teat starting with the ball from a reset after a shot not a way to use his play strengths? It seems that you could fairly easily manufacture that by taking a deliberately high and wide shot where you first ensure you have the backup for it. Can the officials choose to not give the closest team the ball if they believe the shot was not intended to hit the net, akin to a deliberate offsides callby JasonN95 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - 5 years ago
RichH Al DeFlorio French Rage Wooo! 10-9 final with a penalty w/ 2 seconds left but nothing happens. Should have flattened Nims like that with seconds left in 2009. Can I ask that we just stop mentioning during every single lax game discussion what SHOULD have happened during a 10 second period in 2009? WE. KNOW. This level of “laces out” obsession has far surpassed “Ross Lemon’s penalty sby JasonN95 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - CU 7 Brown 4 Ivy semi - 6 years ago
Maybe the coach thought the team could win like this and wanted to guard his plans for getting Teat free until the team is playing Yale? Or maybe all the talk of removing the “Interim” tag mid season was premature after all?by JasonN95 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - No Local Coverage from Ithaca Journal - 6 years ago
Did the old method use goal differential? If not, it seems like this sort of change should be announced before the season starts as teams may now play the end of a game differently (team with lead trying to score vs happy to run out the clock).by JasonN95 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - C 12 @ Lehigh 10 - 6 years ago
Penn St and Syracuse both win, hopefully raising the value of Cornell's wins over them as far as quality wins go. Colgate lost, making that loss worse. I thought Cornell looked a bit nonchalant at the end of the game with only a three goal lead (I recall Teat throwing the ball up with about a minute left --to me it seemed like he was acting as though the ball going back to Colgate was no big whooby JasonN95 - Other Sports

Don’t think this was posted yet. Teat was US Lacrosse’s player of the week for last week (looks like eLF isn’t parsing the URL correctly because of the apostrophe, so removing the “http” and you may need to cut-n-paste): www.uslaxmagazine.com/college/players-of-the-week/cornell’s-jeff-teat-named-warrior-us-lacrosse-player-of-the-weekby JasonN95 - Other Sports

Re: Quinnipiac QF Game 2 - 6 years ago
KenP One question I forgot to ask. What's up with not one but two major penalties? After the lengthy reviews I'll trust the refs that they were called right. IMO no excuse for committing a major penalty. Was it a mistake? Are we just a bunch of goons? Was it that easy for them to get under our skin? I disagree with the first one on Angello. The Q player was not at a dangerous distance froby JasonN95 - Hockey

Chris '03 marty JasonN95 adamw If it goes past 5:00 of conference tournament OT (or Beanpot, or anything), it's still a win/loss for NCAA purposes. I think that has always been the case. But the idea that it counts as a tie is a myth that seems to never die. Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me but I recall being at the tournament that Cornell participated in a few times that was played atby JasonN95 - Hockey

BigRedHockeyFan Clarkson last nine games: 1-4-4 Daredevilcu, who visits here occasionally, posted an eye catching stat on the Clarkson board for their goalie: “First 22 games of the season - 28 goals allowed, 1.27 gaa Last 9 games - 27 goals allowed, 3.00 gaa”by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Uniom 2/2/18 - 6 years ago
Al DeFlorio ugarte Sun livetweet says it was a crease violation Locke's goal is waived off for being in the crease. 3-3 with 3 minutes left.— Cornell Sun Sports (@DailySunSports) February 3, 2018 Sun article says goalie interference, quotes Locke saying the same. Watching it again it looks like Vanderlaan’s leg comes into contact with the goalie in the crease. Not with any force butby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Uniom 2/2/18 - 6 years ago
Trotsky DL What was the deal with the waved off 4th goal?Traffic in the crease was what I assumed at the time. I was afraid that the GWG was going to get overturned as it looked like a Cornell player was in the crease as the puck came out and then was shot in. Is this the best offensive talent a Schafer team has had or am I falling victim to what is new/recent and forgetting a more potent tby JasonN95 - Hockey

Re: Polls 2017-18 - 6 years ago
Jim Hyla I'm not bothered much by the differences between the polls, except that we get 15 votes for first in USCHO, about 30%, and NONE in USA. What's up with that. The USA Today results seem weird to me, as though they took the votes Friday night and the Saturday and Sunday results aren’t factored in.by JasonN95 - Hockey

BearLover JasonN95 Swampy snert1288 Matt Galajda with back to back shut outs and a scoreless streak just over 160 minutes (and counting). Very impressive for this freshman against a good Colgate team. The wins are most important but I love the sense of quality goaltending continuing in to our future. I believe he just tied David McKee's record of six shutouts for a freshman. Tradition! CHNby JasonN95 - Hockey
